I've found out that I have a thing for these vocalists like Ozzy, Terry Jones and Pat Walker that sound in some sort of nasal, half-whiney tone.

Do they simply belong to the trad doom genre, or are there some others out there that happen to sing for some good bands?

The vocalist from Warning(uk) has a very nasal voice aswell, sounds great though.

John Cyriis in old AGent Steel sings pretty nasally a lot of the time but I don´t know if it´s very "whiny"

It isn't exclusive to trad. doom, but there are a handful (Terry Jones mentioned in the OP and Zeeb Parkes). Bands like Cirith Ungol and Manilla Road are more traditional/heavy metal with nasally vocalists, but they have a bit of doomy-ness to them so maybe you're right.

There's a few in thrash, like Sean Killian from Vio-lence.

Geddy Lee from Rush is the first one to spring to mind other than Ozzy and Zeeb, so it's certainly not unique to doom. Also, I've always found Warrell Dane from Nevermore to have a very nasal, whiney voice, and unlike those others I find it unlistenable (plus Nevermore are shit anyway).

Ah...I never pay attention to the names of members in bands anymore.

Dave fucking Mustaine...

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned him yet! I actually don't like his voice much though, but he is definitely a great musician.

I always thought Apollo from Firewind had an annoyingly nasally voice.

Nasal vocals don't strike me as something that would be exclusive to trad doom, though the only vocalist that I can think of off the top of my head without looking is Edgy 59 of Burning Witch. They're really effectively too, like they sound really drugged up.

Indeed, and he does it fucking great. Very emotive, intense vocals most of the time.

You did.

(Sorry, it's a pet hate.. "I'm very surprised... that nobody mentioned this" STOP IT!.. everybody.. it's fucking irritating to the core.)

Dave Mustaine, nasal? Maybe it's just me, but he has an odd voice, comic like.. I wouldn't consider it nasal though. Nasal to me sounds like a blocked nose, singing with a cold.. lol, maybe I'm wrong hahaha.

I think you misunderstood Solitarywolf, what he meant is that Eros Ramazzoti is the most(ultimate) nasal voice in the world. And fuck he does, is just annoying. If you want to have a laugh listen to him.

Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica, he has avery nasal voice, though he has never taken a singing lesson ( I think he ought to), he administrates his very limitated voice just fine on the scenary. He does many funy noises while singing, but I wouldn't prefer him in any other way, he is a great performer(not singer).

Mike Patton, on Faith No More's The Real Thing album especially had a very nasal voice. He's always had a nasal tone to his voice, but on that album he's practically signing through his nose.

More alternative metal than true heavy metal, but they're on the Archives, so there's no harm in suggesting 'em. Patton's other side projects might be worth listening to too, if you like how he sounds.

Well, as the obvious ones are already mentioned, I'll go with a more random pick; Machinae Supremacy's Robert Stjärnstörm. I couldn't fucking stand that odd and whiney voice at first, but it somewhat grew on me and now I can say I enjoy his vocals. Odd indeed.

John Arch of Fates Warning springs to mind. His completely off-the-wall vocal melodies make him very distinctive.

Mike Sanders of Toxik qualifies too, if you like extremely high-register shriekers.

I was listening to Prong - Cleansing, on the way home tonight and this thread come to mind, Tommy Victor sounds soooo nasal on this that it sounds like he has bubble gum stuck up his nostrils.

Lance King from Pyramaze and Avian.

His voice is so nasaly on songs like Pyramaze's Forsaken Kingdom. He just irritates the hell out of me with it.
