Megadeth - Devil's Island

Is it just me or does it sound uncannily like Dave is singing "Nipples Island!" at the end of the song?

Helloween- Push

Holy crap. I was not ready for those vocals.

Also, I was kind of hoping Mr. Torture would start after Period Z. It would flow into it nicely.

Helloween- Revelation

Oh dear. That Meshuggah section in the middle is questionable.

Full marks to Uli for pulling it off though. Especially live.

Indestroy-The Gate

Drumming is really off, but this reminds me of Bloodfeast

L'éternelle majesté des montagnes, by Sorcier des Glaces. They really need to do more songs in French (and less in English).

Uli is a machine. There's a version of Better than Raw with a live drum solo on it as a bonus track and.... holy crap, man. I actually like "Revelation" a lot though, whilst I have mixed feelings on Better than Raw as a whole

EDIT: NP - Tankard - Zombie Attack

I'm on an instrumental mood today and this is just one of the best ever made, if not the very best actually.

CHVRCHES - Love is Dead

This is nowhere near as good as the last album. Perfectly mediocre.

Falkenbach - In Flames

I love how the song suddenly turns in to fucking Enya at 2:58 :D
I'm not complaining though, it is a beautiful and tranquil section.

Amorphis - Brother and Sister

Even the bonus tracks on Queen of Time are some of the best songs Amorphis have ever done.

I could not agree more. Upon my first listen of QOT, I thought this was actually the last song on the album. It immediately became my favorite (We Accursed, solid runner-up). And then I realized 'Brother and Sister' is a bonus track

Amorphis never fails to pleasantly surprise me. Bonus track hahaha

Oh yea, and

The Count of Tuscany - Dream Theater

This song does nearly everything for me. 19 minutes of goosebumps.

Skogen - Frostland

The new album has a lot more clean vocals but a darker atmosphere. Good album from what I've heard so far.

 never seen before this moment qualified as "meshuggah section". I really love Revelation, for a long time it was my favorite Helloween song. I'd say it's a prog song since the construction is very strange, there are a lot of time signatures and the song globally is very experimental and tries to separate itself from its classic roots. Hint: listen to the notes at the very beginning backward!

Vindkaldr - Enchantments Of Old Lore

Trying some Dungeon Synth stuff. Really like it.

Hell yeah man, that Vindkaldr album is dope.

NP: Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak.

Classic! I'm going to do a deep dive into their discography and become better acquainted with some albums I'm not super familiar with after this, like Chinatown and Johnny the Fox.

HammerFall- "Demonized".

One of the innumerable throwaway tracks by this band. Like Iced Earth, they only have a handful of songs that actually totally rock my socks off, and this isn't one of them. The chorus is ok I guess. At least at their most generic HammerFall isn't as purely insipid as Iced Earth.

Ozzy Osbourne - Shot in the Dark

I find Ozzy's solo career to mostly be pretty bad, but he occasionally wrote an absolute gem. Calling this his best song wouldn't be a huge stretch.

Chinatown is slightly subpar. Do Black Rose or Thunder & Lightning instead. Or Johnny The Fox, that rules.

I'd say Helloween don't, at any stage, get to 1/1000 of the heaviness of Meshuggah. That's just a chugging section, man. Plus it only lasts like 30 seconds.

Overkill - Taking Over

Like Feel the Fire, but with better production.

It's a syncopated non 4/4 chugging section. Or at least that's what it sounds like to me.

Dude, I seriously think you need to have your ears checked. I knew which part you were referring to....just was baffled by your comparison.

Helloween - Better than Raw

Thanks to Ed's hearing issues, I'm now listening to my favorite Deris era album.

Is it me or does this song have traces of Bathory worship including a element of melody in their production?

Listening to this now and... not bad! Riffs are leaving a lot to be desired so far, not much character, although that slow riff under the solo (& the solo) in the track "Incubus" is great. Actually, wait, Seven Seals is playing now, and they've shed the basic speed metal riffs; this is a lot better. What carries this is the powerful vocalist. He sounds like a cross between Blackie Lawless and Hansi Kursch/Jens Carlsson. And they're from Germany, how surprising.
