Anyone got any experience record shopping in Baltimore, MD? I've been down there but not record shopping. Been looking for record stores online, and will likely head to The Sound Garden, and then saw El Suprimo and Own Guru which are nearby, but unsure if they have much of a metal/hard rock selection. Is Sound Garden very good for metal/hard rock/aor? Anyone care to recommend anywhere else in Baltimore city? I'm aware of the good stores in other other parts of the state.

Right now the only place to get anything really metal is the sound garden in fells point Baltimore. There used to be Black Mess Records but they relocated to L.A.

Hey guy's I was wondering if there's some metal shop in Quebec City.

The one that I know is "Pentagram" which i went a couple weeks ago and got me some decent shirt. and they had a 50% promotion while i was there neat!!

Is there some other shops in downtown? because once it'll be summer time I want to discover some shops and what not.

I'm not looking for rare stuff (Heretic only exception), so, it doesn't need to be any specialized store... looking for some Metal Church, Thulcandra, Gruesome...
thanx!

If you are still looking for someplace when he is in the NYC area there is one right across the way here in New Jersey. He can easily get here by bus, train or ferry. I actually know a metalhead that travels from NYC to this store, its that good. They have their own metal section of vinyl and CD's. They also have their own Black Metal section if he is into any of that. They have a huge selection of old and new, all styles. Lots and lots of metal though. It is worth the trip.

new the forum, great topic...
EconoJam on Telegraph Ave, while having more of a punk focus, does have a pretty good selection of metal (mostly black, death, doom). Small store but worth checking out.

How good is Vinyl Altar Records in South Philly? I've honestly never been to a specialty metal/punk store, is it worth the trip?

Hey guys, flying into Chicago for Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse on thursday this week. I've looked through this thread for record stores in Chicago, and have found one or two mentions of places, but they're pretty old posts and i've heard at least one place has closed down. Anyone here recommend a good store for hard rock/heavy metal/power/thrash/speed in CHICAGO? Always like to do some record shopping when on vacation! :)

k thx

Vinyl Altar is pretty cool. Mostly new records, but they had an awesome selection when I was there. The book section is great also.

I need one that sells either merchandise or albums in Sacramento. This town is devoid of anything metal. Only place to get metal shirts is online or at Hot Topic, and all that the latter has to offer is popular "core" bands, and the store itself is crawling with emos and socially awkward hipsters :nono:

I'm visiting Seattle, WA for the first time in September. Are there any good metal only stores there? I've heard of Zion's Gate Records but that's it. I'll take punk stores too. Apologies if any were recommended on earlier pages, too lazy to scroll through 29 pages right now haha.

Weird, I just went to Zion's Gate tonight. It's by far the best metal music store in the Seattle area. Lots of shirts, patches, cassettes, etc. A little on the small side but they have a really solid selection.

In Puerto Rico we got Odins Court Metal imports. The man is called Eric Morales and he plays in one of the most succesful and active bands on the scene. He is a great friend of mine. I love going there , its a metal experience!

If you're ever in Cheyenne, Wyoming I found a cool shop called Ernie November today. Stumbled across it while walking the downtown area. Pretty cool store with lots of metal, big used section too.

I'm super jealous of a lot of you people having trouble finding a good shop in big cities. I live in an extremely rural area. They closest place to finding Cds would be like if an elderly lady hada yard sale or something. I'd have to travel to go buy my stuff. I cooould always just online shop but something within me thinks going to a music shop with people with common interests, having conversations, and getting advice or suggestions about new music sounds waaay better.

Hi. I'm going to Stockholm next week, and I was planning to visit Repulsive Records and spend way too much money there, but apparently they closed this week and is from now on only an online store. Are there any other good record stores for buying metal CDs?

Reckless Records isn't a bad place to start. They have three locations, however, the best one, in my opinion, is in Wicker Park. There is a great metal selection there.

Lakeview:
3126 N Broadway
tel: 773-404-5080
Monday - Saturday: 10am - 10pm
Sunday: 10am - 8pm

Wicker Park:
1379 N Milwaukee Ave
tel: 773-235-3727
Monday - Saturday: 10am - 10pm
Sunday: 10am - 8pm

Loop:
26 E Madison
tel: 312-795-0878
Monday - Saturday: 10am - 8pm
Sunday: 10am - 7pm

This is a great metal shop in Beijing if anyone is interested. The owner can speak a some English, so its easy to ask for what your looking for. The shop is small but the collections runs deep. The guy has a collection of Chinese metal bands, too.
