The Marillion is the best thing I've heard this year (I've been on a admittedly fanboyish kick with Marillion these last couple of years, culminating with seeing them twice this year as well as the release of the album-so there might be a bit of bias there), but the Godspeed is very close-it'll likely be in my top 5 of non-metal for this year. Marillion albums usually take a bit before they click with me; I was about ready to give up with Brave, until one day everything sort of fell into place. Sounds will most likely do the same, although I still can't see it toppling GY!BE and Sigur Ros' offerings. But third place ain't so bad. |

Went to one of my favoured shops just yesterday: JB HI-FI (australia) and as there was a rather large sale on cds, dvds and the like I ended up getting Opeth's Blackwater Park and Suicidal Tendencies' 'original album classics' pack, including their re-booted self titled, 'How Will I Laugh Tomorrow', 'Controlled by Hate/Feel Like Shit', Lights..Camera..Revolution' and Art of Rebellion'. Have loved Opeth for a couple of yrs so now that I finally own such a masterful album I doubt I will emerge from my room for days |
