Oh God yes, this is exactly what I am looking for! Anything else?

The Crimson Armada http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ8akbP1ki0 (similar to The Black Dahlia Murder which is who Regain the Legacy is similar to)
Empires http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yeYWBvUoVk (Much more on the core side and more breakdowns. Give it a try though)
MEFTS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrmcve3-92E (Awesome leads. Vocals can be pretty meh at times but the music itself is great)
Ampora http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbH2-aAh4Y8 (Nothing unique, really)
Born to Suffer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VFBCfvyQao (This song slows down halfway through, the good stuff is at the beginning)
Mutiny Within http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6d0XVml-ek (Vocals are mostly clean, with a few harshes)
Feed Her to the Sharks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf6gdhY1dfw (Really melodic song. Has a sick melodic riff like halfway through)

These recs are all over the place; all but the first (which is technical melodic deathcore) are metalcore or a type of metalcore (it was a constraint to use only metalcore. If you can stretch the genre, then I can recommend a lot more). None of them really sound alike. Some I've liked for a long time, some I like a few songs by, some I've known for less than week.

If you like my recs, check out the mega post I made on an old account a long time ago in this thread: viewtopic.php?p=1937722#p1937722 . I never finished it and the metalcore section is small but it's all mostly melodic -core metal. The melodic deathcore section will do you just fine.

Wow, thanks for that. Looks like I got a lot of listening to do.

Oh and yes, you can stretch the genre, preferably towards MDM.

Edit, for obvious reasons.

Check stuff out and let me know in specific what bands you like. I sort of used to be known as the melodic metalcore guy because of how much of the genre I knew. And stretching to MDM is good since that's where I sort of stretch to. Some metalcore can be boring but the best are the ones with a strong melodeath influence (blast beats, faster tempos, tremolo picking, less breakdowns, etc). I usually check this thread when there's a new post so if you post here, I'll see it.

One more song before I take off for the day.

Brother Von Doom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgdmtCKBncw (Uptempo and really melodic, ripe with blasts. Vocals are... different. Some people like them more than usual, some don't. Interesting (not really) fact: the first comment made in this link which is over a year old is mine. It was my first highest rated comment on youtube that I can recall, though it was only the highest rated at the time because there weren't even half a dozen comments)

My favorite song by them is A Beautiful Masquerade though I thought this song would be a better attention grabber.

Glad you're still here, Bearkin, always thought you were a good'un. Was wondering where you went to. With that said, publicly flaunting your ban evasion is a good way to get re-banned. If they get you again, PM so I can follow your posts. You do rec some good melodeath/core shit.

Yep =D I used to get really defensive on my old account and received a few warnings. The actual ban came out of no where on a day when I hadn't posted for a few days (which is complete bull) but I still had a few warnings so I never complained. But yeah, I'm still the same person as before. Glad to know someone remembered me :)

Of course I remember you bearkin! Your list of recs is pretty good I've found many great bands thanks to you, so, yeah. I though Indecency had a pretty similiar taste of music, turns out it was the same guy.

Is making an account not allowed? I was initially IP banned but after talking to Morrigan it was undone so I thought I was good to go. That plus the fact that I waited a month or two and since creating Indecency I've stayed very low key, so I think (and hope) they don't have a problem with me.

Thanks! I'm proud of that list, took a while to make. I could still add a bunch more (especially to metalcore and melodic death metal) but I just don't have the time anymore (not to mention the fact that I can't edit that post).

If you guys are interested I'd love for you to hear the music I will be making. So far I just have one song (not going to post it here, would feel like shameless promoting) that's sort of a melodic thrash song. Once I get better at guitar I plan on pretty much going full on double harmonic middle eastern melodic thrashcore. It will be a while though, so you're in for a wait!

He's not acting like a moron like he was before, no need to ban him, really. The "heeeeeeeeey, you're evading a ban" policy doesn't always apply, at least on my watch.

Still, shitty taste though! :-D

Avoid their early stuff if you want to avoid deathcore cliches. Their EP is more metalcore, their first album is more cliche deathcore with melody, their second album is more thought-out deathcore, their latest is really melodic deathcore. Actually, the one and only album review I have written was for their album Kill the Crown. Check it out: http://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/S ... wn/296869/

I'm looking for blazing fast technical deathcore bands which utilize but don't overuse breakdowns, and generally aren't scene and don't overuse cliches. They should be technical, but have good songwriting ability. A good example is Adversary-era Thy Art is Murder. Thanks for any recommendations.

I only got one question for you about your request. How melodic and how brutal do you want it to be? (Note that brutal doesn't necessarily mean fast or heavy; think of the actual brutal death metal genre with all the chugging and whatnot).

I would say quite melodic and slightly brutal.

If you don't like ____core than just leave, why waste your time and ours by posting your hate on here. ITS ALL METAL in my opinion despite what the site believes. Some of my fav bands:
Metalcore:
As I Lay Dying
August Burns Red
blessthefall
Darkest Hour
The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Devil Wears Prada
Motionless In White
Of Mice & Men

Deathcore:
Carnifex
Chelsea Grin
Attila
Suicide Silence
All Shall Perish
Despised Icon
Aborted
Born of Osiris
After The Burial
Veil of Maya
Oceano

Even with my love for "-core", I still love me some Naglfar, or Kataklysm.

I'm not sure whether I'm most disgusted by your failure to correctly spell "then", your attempt to silence the opinions of those who feel differently from you about metalcore/deathcore, your moronic chanting of "ITS ALL METAL" (in all caps, too, as if it's some sort of a rallying cry), or your attempt to mask yourself from criticism by listing "true metal" bands which you know no one will dare to protest against.

For me it's the posting of a big list of bands that everyone already knows as if it's new stuff.

I highly recommend Dividing the Masses - More Than This EP. It's super chug infested, so if that's not your thing this album definitely isn't for you. It kind of reminds me of Suicide Silence's The Cleansing except much, much, much better. Most will find it generic, but for some reason this EP just came at me with so much built up energy and explosiveness that I can't deny sharing it with everyone I possibly can. I think a lot of it has to do with the tone of the snare, that shit has such an impact.

What do people consider Volumes, Structures, and Circles to be (besides plural nouns)? By the way I'm not implying they are similar; I'm just naming off bands that I've been checking out lately.

Those bands are all tied to the djent scene. The genre tags usually associated with those types of bands are progressive, math, and metalcore. Progressive Math Metalcore wouldn't be too far off. I usually call them Progressive Math Metal.

Took me a second to catch on to the sarcasm.

__________________________________________________________________

Anyone here who hasn't listened to The End of All Reason yet needs to. I knew them back from their first EP in 2008 and it was some pretty awesome stuff. Their debut somehow manages to be a step up. In short, they're Melodic Deathcore. However, they've very clearly progressive. The debut is 1.2 hours, with a lot of rise and fall and sound pretty epic at times. There's plenty of blasts and melodic riffs to go around. The vocals aren't as stellar as everything else but I personally think they don't detract so I have no problem with them.

Check out the first song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NL-uBJ1_4Q

Some of you might like Aversions Crown. I don't really get why they're banned from the Archives (they are pretty metal, with blastbeats and everything), but I guess it's because of their extremely BR00TAL breakdowns:

Is it the singing in Demon Hunter that makes it metalcore? I always saw Demon Hunter as a Melodic Death Metal band. Any opinions?

Copying and pasting from a different thread because I'm hardcore.

I know this style may not be liked here but I want something similar to this style. It's kind of a guilty pleasure of mine and this is really the only band I know in this style. Don't recommend something like Black Veil Brides or Bring me the Horizon because I've heard that shit before and I hated it.

Edit 2:
Ok, I don't know what to label this as, but I know I want stuff similar to it. Here's some samples. 1 2 3. I know this is pretty lame music but I kind of like it, though I do feel weird going from listening to obscure atmospheric black metal to something like this :oh shit:

can anyone recommend any bands that sound similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eY1MrEklZk
I did a thread awhile back looking for help with finding "blackened deathcore" stuff and found quite a few great bands through it. the link I posted reminds me of that particular sound a lot. preferrably minimal to no gimmicky symphonic crap like Make them suffer.

I also echo the obsession with Tribulation's Children of the Night. It's like you're biting into a Nepolean pastry. Addictive and unbelievably delicious. And no, I'm not fat.
