Candlemass - Nightfall

Y'know, I can actually take or leave every track here aside from "The Well of Souls" and "Mourner's Lament." I think Ancient Dreams is more deserving of the reputation as a classic. Also, I want to erase Jan Lindh's drum sound on this album from existence. Especially disappointing afetr the badass drum production on Epicus, too.

Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Song: The Golden Walls of Heaven (currently on this song)

Doesn't sound so different from the black metal phase of the band.

Sirenia - At Sixes and Sevens (title track)

I didn't give this band enough of a chance when I first got into related stuff like Nightwish years ago. I should buy this album already.

Moonblood - Rehearsal 4
Song: Kingdom Of Forgotten Dreams (currently on this song)

All the Moonblood demos have the same distinct sound but at least I enjoyed the songs.

8.6/10

Opeth - Black Rose Immortal

Simply epic.

Heathen - Heathen's Song

One of my favorite albums of the Progressive Thrash Metal movement. This song in particular just oozes awesomeness!

Sodom - Sodomy and Lust

Such a delightfully carnal song. I love the way it flows into the mad thrashing of "The Conqueror".

Eh, I guess it's okay.

Out Of The Silent Planet - Iron Maiden

Because I'm reading Bruce's book, and at the era I'm at, it put me in the mood for this album.

Neurosis remastered The Word as Law so I'm checking it out and it sounds pretty tight, the drums especially. This album was all about the rhythm section and raw original or remaster it shreds. Some of the best bass work on just any album.

Of course I had to specifically hit up this track, which is one of my favorites of theirs ever. How can people hate on such a gnarly and massively original badassterpiece like this album, I've never understood https://neurosis.bandcamp.com/track/to-what-end

Paysage d'Hiver - Winterkälte

I decided that I'm going to listen to the whole demo. I'm on the first track as of now and it sounds really atmospheric.

Grave Miasma - Odori Sepulcrorum

Monumental, magical and authoritatively mystical. This album possesses certain charisma that so many modern metal albums lack.

Witchcult Today and Black Masses are excellent compared to Dopethrone.

Haven't tried them yet - which one do you recommend to start with?

Kalthzud, it really doesn't matter which album you start with but if I had to make a decision it would be Witchcult Today.

Asphagor - The Cleansing

What a great tittle track to end the album. Slower than the rest of the album in an almost doomy way, with bursts of speed here and there, but the melody and atmosphere it delivers is just amazing. Some of the guitar parts in the end reminded me of Page/Zeppelin.

Arseny Avraamov - Symphony of Sirens.

I haven't had much experience with experimental "classical", or very early "noise music", but this is absolutely fascinating. The middle section with the Internationale is great, and it's even better how it slowly fades out while the panicky sirens (??) take center stage, around the 18th minute in.

Infester - Chamber of Reunion

Some reviews I've read claim this to be some scary stuff. Dunno about that, but holy shit is it atmospheric. Not heard any other death metal quite like it.

Pantheist - Curse Of The Morning Light

One of the best Doom Metal Epics I am heard yet. This album has a lot of variety for a Funeral Doom Metal album!

Music genres aren't proper nouns.

Zombie Holocaust - Millions of Dead Zombies

I am so glad I stumbled across this record last weekend. I had pretty much forgotten about these guys, but this is actually pretty solid retro thrash. Maybe not quite top tier compared to Warbringer/BBB/Hatchet/Gama Bomb, etc, but definitely not terrible.

Dimmu Borgir - The Empyrean Phoenix from Eonian.

I still can't understand just what the fuck these guys were smoking when they were recording this. There are some moments on this album that remind me of their earliest works, but they are so few and far between in what is essentially a huge pile of shit that I'm probably just going to give up on listening to this.

Still, at least it's a suitable "soundtrack" for scaring children and the elderly at work...

Ifernach - Gaqtaqaiaq

This band continues to improve and this release is really excellent. One of my favorites of the year so far. Just great.

Bilskinir - Hammerschlag
Disc 2: ..bis Germanien erwacht
Song: Der Rabbengott

Sounds slightly similar to later Graveland in a melodic way.

i ended disappointed by that one, not that i find it bad but it's not particularly outstanding either, was so looking forward to it because Line of Dissent is such a good song, turned out, that's the only really stand out song and the rest is just your average DM stuff

Alice in Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

Giving AiC a whole truckload of spins in preparation for the new album dropping soon (hopefully!). I actually like this a lot more than the overrated BGWtB (which in itself isn't a bad album, but it has like the highest average on here of all their albums, which I just intensely disagree with.
