Kriegsmaschine - Enemy of Man
Song: Asceticism and Passion (currently on this song)

This album (so far) sounds like a mix between Mgla and Deathspell Omega. It's a sound that has already been heard.

Cyberdome by Tad Morose

Killer song with awesome vocals from a guy who used to be top notch but pretty much sucks now. Not sure what happened to Urban Breed, but it's sad.

I think he's fine, but his band Serious Black is just what sucks. He was very good even just a few years ago with other acts.

Black Majesty - Legacy

I really fucking love these first two albums. So rich and textured and complex, but still kick ass.

Rivers of Nihil - The Silent Life

Really, really digging this song. Might give the full album a spin in the next couple days.

Wolfchant- Bloodwinter

God this album is so booooring. They tried to go epic without making anything fucking memorable. Embraced by Fire was epic but managed to be cacthy as fuck(Winters Triumph is one of their greatest songs they've made.) Hell, even fucking Determined Damnation arguably their worst album(I highly disagree, this is the For The Revolution of Wolfchant, it doesnt deserve the hate it gets) had some fucking kickass tunes like In War and A Ravens Flight, but this? This was a fucking drag.

Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea

Intoxicates and enlightens. Innocent and serpentine, the soul-reaper.

Saturnian Sect, by Varathron. One of good songs on the albom. Good but does not deserve all the praises I read here and there.

Flawless, epic Finland, its make me as tropical wise man from south east just want to go there to see the Viking and drunk some best beer with 'em.

Darkthrone - Dark Thrones and Black Flags

The Gathering - How to Measure a Planets?

Ghost - Miasma

Holy hell, Ghost should just turn into an instrumental band. This is amazing.

Ruins of Beverast - Exuvia

Highly idiosyncratic and self-serving music. I don't think there is anything wrong with crafting your art so eclectically. It only decrease the chance of one's audience mass to a slim minimum because of the highly ambiguous nature of ideas and the highly esoteric messages. Though comprehensive but so poorly executed considering the timing of each track. Ruins can be listened to, once every year or so, at least in my view. Beyond that, my tolerance for this oddity may not be given more playtime, unfortunately. With that in mind, it is still stimulating music for what it is. 6/10 is a generous score. Quite underwhelmed.

I can see that, but I like this kind of quality in my music - wouldn't dock points for it anyway.

Father John Misty - Just Dumb Enough to Try

Can't stop playing this.

An interesting take. For me Exuvia was 9,5/10 and last year's AOTY, by a fair margin.

When it comes to band such as Lychgate for a reasonable comparison, Lychagte carries ideas more clearly and also possesses, more aim, compared to what Ruins presents. When I listen to Lychage, I hear several musicians in tension, creating something authentic, and truly original (not for sole purpose of originality but because the end result is something close to that nature). When it comes to Ruins, it appears that he is arranging, and attaching ideas together without considerable thought to the general transformation of riffage from one melody to the next because if otherwise re-thought, it may perhaps lead to more suitable arrangements and better structures (which is to a large extend, absent). The cohesivity of the album is not uniform for such grand ideas. I believe Ruins lacks these characteristics quite noticeably. This characteristic is what I would call "organic" and more so the general feel of the album.

I think it falls off after the third track. But the first three songs are killer. They played two of them (the title track and "Maere (On a Stillbirth's Tomb)") when I saw them at Maryland Deathfest and they were amazing. When I heard "Maere", I thought it would make an excellent set closer and the band seemed to think the same way; it was the last song of the set and it was a powerful ender.

NP:

YOB - Our Raw Heart

Been a while since I followed YOB, but I rekindled my interest lately by picking up the reissues of Catharsis and later The Great Cessation. They're solidifying themselves as one of my favorite nowadays doom metal acts. They're touring with Bell Witch and I'll catch them at Baltimore or Pittsburgh later this month.

Hooded Menace - Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed

My first serious spin. Some parts of this album sound like My Dying Bride (or rather, English doom in general and some minor Swedish influences like Candlemass), in other parts it sounds like classic Finnish gothic/doom (like Rapture, and Before The Dawn or even Skepticism and the legendary Colosseum). Elsewhere it sounds like a slowed down version of Edge of Sanity (especially in the vocal department), and some patently obvious NWBHM influence in terms of melodies. The album does not take itself too seriously nor too lightly using some great picking techniques and well-placed drums which always plays a crucial role in almost all doom. A very likable release. Thumbs up!

Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today
Song: The Chosen Few

This album for some damn reason only got an 80% in the reviewer's section. Unbelievable!

Bruce Springsteen - My Father's House

I've never actually listened to him, but i'm regretting it :)

So far Darkness at the Edge of Town, Nebraska and a good number of the songs on Rising have all be really impressive and perfect for the incoming summer

Survivor - I'm Not That Man Anymore (live)

Yes, they have other songs besides the obvious one. Kind of underrated. This song has so much feeling. Got to dig Eye of the Tiger and Caught in the Game up from oblivion.

Need to get more of his stuff. I only got Born to Run.

Queens of the Stone Age - God on the Radio

Fucking massive, sludgy, fat guitar riffs. It's like heaven.

Tsjuder - Unholy Paragon

Desert Northern Hell really is a BM classic in my book. One of the few albums that came out during the 00-10's that truly deserves that honour.

Rivers of Nihil - A Silent Life

This is pretty good. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. This kind of music has been around for like over a decade and this at least adds some interesting other stuff and this song sounds rather fluid and well constructed. Maybe not my genre of choice, but it's quality.

Headhunter - Parasite of Society.

Headhunter is one of the more consistent power/thrash bands I've come across. OK A Bizarre Gardening Accident was a little weak compared to it's 3 siblings, but even that album had its moments. This, the band's most recent from 2008, is not exception; crunchy, catchy riffs abound, all intertwined with Schmier's awesome vocals and Schmuddel's killer (and frankly underrated) lead work.
