Lugubrum - Albino de Congo

Got into this band via the black metal recommendation thread. Fantastic band.

Iron Maiden - Maiden England 88

This might be my favorite official Maiden live album. Really awesome to hear deep cuts like Still Life and Killers with Bruce, as well as the Seventh Son title track. Currently doing a discography run, so it's good to have one last celebration with all the classics, before things start to get weird.

Medico Peste - ב: The Black Bile

I really dig the eerie ambience and the weird sounds on this album.

Aura Noir - The Tower of Limbs and Fevers

Currently digging this debut EP from Aura Noir. A good mix of black metal and thrash metal.

LOVE the production on this album.

Pestilence - Consuming Fucking Impulse

I'm addicted to three things in this life, booze, nicotine and this fucking album, what a genius piece of art.

Thank you Patrick Mameli

Can't relate to the nicotine and booze, but that album is absolutely fantastic! I had a great time seeing Pestilence play that in its entirely. :)

NP: Zafira - Mournful Ever

A short gloom and doom album with vocals that fall somewhere between Vincent Cavanagh's semi-moaning and Johan Edlund's dry shouts. Not sure if I like it, but it's certainly interesting.

Always will have a soft spot for Archgoat, and have been giving them a lot of playtime in order to prepare for the new full-length dropping later this year. They're like comfort food for the ears for me.

The band that has the nerve to right a song with the title "Nuns, cunts and darkness" deserves all the respect it can get!

Abhorrence - Evoking the abomination

This fucking record absolutely demolishes everything in its path. It is the equivalent of a horde of Orcs assaulting a 100,000 Imperial Guardsman army and commencing the biggest massacre in the history of the Imperium.

King Diamond - Fatal Portrait

Still my favourite KD album (closely followed by Abigail).

For sure! Makes me wonder if they titled it the way they did intentionally or not.

NP: En Las Espases Nieblas - Eco Infinito

I'm not even sure what to make of this exactly, but it's definitely interesting stuff. Almost reminds me of a ''foreign'' variant of MDB's Turn Loose the Swans with an even looser approach to songwriting and more ''proper'' clean vocals thrown in or something.

Face to Face - Black Eye Specialist

Yeah, this new album is pretty classic-sounding Face to Face... probably because the times they've actually ventured outside their usual style (see: "Ignorance is Bliss" and its attempt at 90s style emo/indie rock and "Three Chords and a Half Truth" and its attempt at a Social Distortion kind of sound), their fans have had a brutal response. This is a good album though, and they really are best at straight forward skate punk.

Jack White - Would You Fight for My Love?

I love the way his last two albums have flowed, all these disparate contradicting ideas, Americana and old rock mixed with very new, futuristic sorts of sounds. Hoping he has something else new soon.

You don't want to be able to relate with the nicotine and booze part, it's hell but goddammit I'd love to see them perform that whole album live, I love that album so much it's absolutely perfect, transcends the genre for sure

Mayhem - The Dying False King

The closest they've come yet to capturing the magic of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

Paradise Lost - An Eternity of Lies

It's a tie between this and "Beneath Broken Earth" as my favorite song off The Plague Within.

Ignite - Anti-Complicity Anthem

The guitarist of heavy metal bands Holy Grail and Huntress is now the singer for punk rock band Ignite. Weird.
It works though, honestly... and I wasn't sure what I'd think of Ignite without Zoli Teglas on vocals. Good job, I guess!

Helloween - Walls of Jericho

Helloween are the only power metal bands I can listen. Their "let's play Iron Maiden at 45 rpm with harmonies" style combined with the more traditional heavy metal sound creates the perfect balance for a power metal band.

Drott - Arch Of Gloom

Is anyone else hearing this side project from members of Enslaved and Ulver? Very much in the vein of newer Ulver and the Enslaved side project "Bardspec". I am loving this.

St. Vincent - Down and Out Downtown

This is a really wild album. Probably going to be pretty high up on my end of the year list. Just seems like so many ideas and sounds - it's a lot to take in.

I personally can't stand that man's vocal tone and think it wouldn't fit with DT outside of the more soulful songs like "Lines In The Sand" and "Sacrificed Sons"....but I can appreciate why he's popular.

Neurosis - I Can See You

They've never played this live the times I've seen them and I can see how it's not what you'd normally fit into a Neurosis set but surely Scott Kelly or Steve Von Till can include it in their solo sets. Amazing wistful tune!

The Rolling Stones - Tattoo You

Pretty good, soulful stuff. Definitely a band I can dig to just hear them play.

Devin Townsend - Solar Winds

I love how Ziltoid the Omniscient is a super deep self-analysis, and ultimately a repudiation, by Townsend of the monster he felt he'd become by the end of Strapping Young Lad masquerading as a big goofy concept album about aliens and coffee.

Dark at Dawn - s/t

Something about this one has really been hitting a mood lately. Just massive heaviness and direct hooks. Inimitable band.

Merciful Fate - Don't break the oath

I just started listening to Merciful Fate and I oh my God what the hell have I been missing? King Diamond's vocals are amazing and the guitarwork here is pure heavy metal masterclass!

Absolutely! And I think "A Dangerous Meeting" might be the best thing Mr Diamond has ever recorded. Sounds like a signature tune showcasing the essence of his style.

Now playing: Bathory - Blood Fire Death

My favourite Bathory album. Has one of the greatest artworks in metal and definitely my favourite album intro of all time irrespective of genre. The spooky atmosphere combined with the landscape on the cover is really, really, er, spooky. Listen to this in early January when the Wild Hunt regularly gallops across the clouds of Europe. :oh shit:

I can't stop listening to The Eye of Every Storm. The times call for it, I guess.

Unto Others - Little Bird

Just on my first pass through the new record. I'm sure this is going to be a polarizing and much discussed album here. So far, I absolutely love it.
