Alright, the rumor mill, don't know what to make of this if it's real.

I don't see them recording under the Slayer name.

I would think Tom would have something to say about it.

And whatever Phil's faults, he's never been one to indulge in cash-cow nostalgia. A Pantera reunion tour with Zakk Wylde or Robb Flynn on guitar would have made more money than everything else he's done in the last 5 years combined.

I think they'll do it under a different name.

Considering that "article" is over a year and a half old, it's probably safe to assume it's bullshit.

Yeah, I see now that it is dated by the comments. It popped up in my news feed and I posted it, admittedly, that I wasn't sure how true it was. Regardless, it was relevant to this thread.

By all accounts, Anselmo wasn’t the one holding this up when it was a feasible idea, Vinnie Paul always put the brakes on this because he’s hated Phil. Rex and Phil were always said to be in for this. And now that Vinnie is gone, the idea is totally not feasible.

Plus, Amselmo’s solo gigs as of late have been all Pantera songs. Of course he indulges in cash cow nostalgia.

As for Kerry King, regardless of whether he goes solo or tries to use the Slayer name, if Repentless is any indication, I’ll politely decline.

Kerry King is capable of writing good music, he wrote lots of mediocre music, in Slayer, out of laziness.
He is even capable of good guitar solos. His solos on Show No Mercy actually sound musical. His atonal, chromatic style is an acquired taste, and I think Morbid Angel and Angelcorpse did it better. But his solo on “seasons in the abyss,” is better than Jeff Hanneman’s in that song.

If he wants to actually put effort into making something good, and understands his limitations, and is willing to work with other band members(like someone who can arrange the riffs into a good song), and his extremely extreme, sick tribal brah, black sunglasses indoors, tendencies are allowed some room, but don’t go too far, and take over the whole thing, it could be good.

I hope.
