Damn, that is easily some of the darkest Blut Aus Nord stuff in a while. Was expecting a follow-up to the melodic psychedelic trippy BM from the Hallucinogen album, looks like I couldn't be more wrong. Cant wait to hear the whole thing.

Just listened to the single, and I really like how spatial the atmosphere was. Really stoked to see this new album in May!

I love Blut Aus Nord. Vindsval can do no wrong in my opinion and a year is already better whenever he releases new music. It's a great song and I can't wait to hear the whole album in its entirety.

Haunting and sinisterly beautiful. You done it again, Vinny! (Yes, I'm also going to call him Vinny now, and it's theposega's fault.)

I already like it a lot more than Hallucinogen. It wasn't a bad album, but pretty pedestrian for Blut Aus Nord.

Man, this is spooky as hell. Love it. I was super enamoured with Blut Aus Nord for a while, then fell out of the loop with them shortly after Saturnian Poetry. Gotta revisit their newer stuff!

Loved Hallucinogen for its originality. The airy feeling and great lead guitar work. With the new single Blut Aus Nord seems to be back to a more dark and compact sound. But it sounds really good. I look forward to this release.

Dark, weird, unsettling. It's Blut Aus Nord alright. I think the later output by the band has been somewhat lacking, but this sounds solid.

Impending doom.

I am really pumped, these are three of my favourite bands, I have to admit, so it's hard not to be excited.

I enjoy everything Vindsval has done (to different degrees, of course) with The Work Which Transforms God being probably my favourite. I also think I am in the minority when I say I really liked last album's melodic, trippy, ethereal-like approach; I loved the flow on that record as well.

This new track is already monstrous so I think we'll see a much more menacing BaN.

The second single is released.

https://www.debemur-morti.com/en/news/7 ... amer-.html

New clothing available as well which looks really cool in colors. It's not usually my style, but I'm debating picking up the pink one.

Liking the music, missing some cool vocals over said music. I mean, the chant-like parts worked for the previous album but on here they just feel a bit empty. Both tracks could easily be improved with at least some screaming, not sure why he decided to move to mostly instrumental stuff.

It's alright but sounds like it will work better in the context of the album.

So far so good, pretty trippy psychedelic black madness. Will need more listens

Their last album got leaked a few weeks before it was supposed to get released and I think V and Debemur Morti were quite dispoointed by it, so maybe they’re trying to get ahead of that?

initial impression is that it’s a very good album. it’s basically just vinny’s dissonant side without the industrial/mechanical coldness that has always come along with it. really good production too. clean and audible yet murky in a way that enhances the atmosphere

another fat W for BAN

It's available on Spotify. It's a bit meh to be completely honest. It follows the track of most of Blut Aus Nord's latest albums, great atmosphere and disturbing sounds, but not much to show for songwriting. There is great tension in the songs, but they never lead to any payoff. The songs just come and go, often fading out.

I will say that they manage to create amazing soundscapes though, the guitar sounds that come out of this are otherwordly and alien. I also like the limited use of vocals, the "choirs" sound like souls from hell screaming out in pain.

I've just had one quick listen today, and eventhough I need some more listens, I mostly agree with the previous posts.

To me, this new opus takes the basis of Deus Salutis Meae without the mechanical/industrial elements, but adds instead something of the mystical black death/metal from That Once Was trilogy and a bit of psychedelia of the previous Hallucinogen but turned disharmonic

I've got the feeling that the (relatively) recent record of BAN uses elements and references of the whole discography but in different proportion and adds just a bit of innovation, hence the mixed feeling of repetition and innovation for each new release.

I liked Hallucinogen, but can't get used to sound on this one. Just not my thing.

Damn has it really been like….8-9 years since I’ve been here?

Anyways, I’m a bit of a Blut fanboy so my opinion should be taken with a strand of Vindsval’s hair. One of the reasons I love them so much is what they are able to capture with such sparse use of vocals. Soundscape is a word that gets thrown around a lot; soundtrack might be better. That being said this album did kind of wash over me. I was doing lawn work while listening to it so I guess I wasn’t really focused, but it made me feel uneasy even though it was sunny out, so that’s saying something. I like it but it will require more than the one listen I’ve given it.

But again, I’m a fanboy.

a few more listens has really solidified this as a very, very good album. an incredible atmosphere; the darkest BAN has sounded in a long time, maybe ever. pretty much a lock on top 5 metal albums this year for me imo

On the first listens, I could say this is one of BAN's best album. But now with a deeper and careful listen, I can affirm this album is INSANE.

Absolutely great piece of music. I love the continuity with Hallucinogen here. That one felt like a vivid shrooms trip, while this one feels like a really shitty acid trip gone wrong. Saying that, i would definitely go with Hallucinogen if i had to pick one.

Your description of these 2 albums, also matches the album covers pretty well.

I love all of the haunting choral touches. It sounds like a horror movie score.

Vindsval confirmed on FB he's already working on the follow-up to the first Forhist album.

Maybe that was just me but I wasn't impressed with the first Forhist album. The first track was really cool and I can't remember anything from the rest of the album.

Yeah Forhist felt like he tried to make MV4 but he knew it wasn't up to the standard so repackaged it haha.

Yeah, Forhist was like classic second wave worship while the MV lines make sure to include more experimental/progressive elements in it.

I’m a BAN fanboy so I’m always down to listen to anything Vindsval puts out so I’ll get Forhist’s second album and I hope the second Yeruselem will be out sooner rather than later too.

That first Forhist album was right up my alley personally. Nice throwback to the classic scandinavian black metal sound.

I have been listening to this album on repeat while working. Honestly my only complaint is that I want more! I've explored their other albums a bit but they're just not hitting me like this one is. Something about the atmosphere and those haunting choral touches is really addictive.
