Pentacle - Awaiting the Blast of Death

This is a serious cool band. Sort of makes me think of a thrashier Asphyx.

Absolute insanity! I love it.

Such a great song!

NP: My Dying Bride - "A Doomed Lover"
Been on a doom kick these past few weeks, and MDB especially. This track from "Songs Of Darkness" is crushing and majestic. And I love the outro riffing which sounds like Katatonia circa 1998 - 1999. Fantastic stuff.

Sheer bliss in music form. I wish they'd release new music already.

You know it. If you don’t like that song you don’t like music.

Corrosion of Conformity - Dance of the Dead

This was one of my favorite CoC tracks that frequently got played on Headbangers Ball in the early '90s. The chugging riffs from 2:58-3:02 and repeated again from 3:08-3:15 always gets me to mimic it on air guitar to this day.

Cloven Hoof - Beltaine Fire

Holds up... just a nice blast of kinetic PM. Vitriolic and triumphant.

Hector - Juodaan Viina

Way better than that atrocity made by Korpiklaani.

D.R.I. - Don't Ask

Rather underrated. It's still good old D.R.I. for me.

Phurpa - Trowo Phurnag Ceremony

I'm really liking this lately, Alexey and the boys dedication to their art is really impressive and awe-inspiring. A great album to meditate to. This collective is ought to get more recognition.

Fuck yeah, Blind is such a special album. CoC never released anything similar, much as I like all their other stuff.

NP: Kreator - Isolation

The grand finale to a shamefully neglected album. Cause for Conflict kills.

Wake - Swallow the Light

Possibly the single most greatest song I've heard this year. Dynamic, pulsing, varied. Can't wait for the whole album to drop.

Seeing the scumdogs tonight. Hopefully I am sacrificed to GWAR at some point during the show.

And I'm NOT getting drunk. Nope, not this time. :nods:

Yeah, too bad that album turned out to be a one-off for the band. I liked their line up for it and their overall sound on that album. It was like their most metal album as it didn't sound like their hardcore beginnings nor did it give a hint of their southern metal future.

They have loads of crap but at their best, The Beatles are fucking godlike. This is probably my favourite from their biggest hits.

Cianide - Salvation

This is one weird ass album. The first few tunes sound like death metal anthems; sort of like the equivalent of a death metal band aping later Manowar; fucking terrible shit. However, things start to pick up halfway through with bulldozering, grooving doom/death that Cianide does so well.

Periphery - Blood Eagle

I think this song has finally won me over on Periphery. Only took over a decade for me to finally be into them.

Samael - Poison Infiltration

Unlike most of their peers in the black metal realm, Samael was comfortable playing at slow to mid pace and sounding much more refined and polished than the rest of the field. "Blood Ritual" is a perfect exercise in mid-tempo musical excellence.

Armageddon - Embrace the Mystery
Cave of Swimmers - Aurora

Was in the mood for some DIY, rawer sorts of PM. Powerful shit man.

Elvenking - Wyrd

Haven't played anything in a couple days, probably should fix that. I wonder if any of their recent stuff is worth bothering with? I didn't like their 3rd/4th CDs at all and haven't bothered with them since.

Indeed. The White Album is particularly weighed down with annoying filler, but the good songs are stunning.

The new stuff isn't my thing, but they abandoned the weird mallcore stuff after a couple of albums, so they're not offensive at least.

NP Kamelot - Karma

Roy fucking Khan.

Yep, they’re fucking good.

Man, this is some weird stuff, I’m gonna keep an eye on the Icelandic black metal scene, it’s something else.

"Dystopian Industrial Complex Ambience" on the Y'tube channel "Futuristic Lab". There's loads of other ambiences that sound like intros to imaginary Voivod albums. It can't get more metal than an industrial complex, can it?

Spoiler: show

Still searching for "Autumnal Scrotum Sounds Beyond the Black Hole" though.

Mortiis - Født til å herske part 1

I still want to direct the movie based on this soundtrack. One day. The last few minutes are one of the most haunting and beautiful things I've ever heard. It's minimalistic but extremely effective.

Ceremonium - Into the Autumn Shade

Much better than I remember it being. Dig those eerie tremolos that sneak in here and there and the ghostly leads sound inspired by early Paradise Lost.

Belphegor - Totentanz

Some really nifty melodies in there, kind of harking back to Pestapocalypse/Goatreich Fleshcult material. Helmuth's vocals are also more varied than before his near-death experience, so this could turn out to be a really great record and I even liked Totenritual quite a bit.

Slower does not automatically equal "dumbed down", yo.

"Adjusting The Sun" ~ Hypocrisy

This is still my favorite Hypo tune; that fucking melody in the chorus!

Witchcraft - The Alchemist

This brilliant title track has the band utilising everything they have in their arsenal in one song where they go off on one for the middle section, stretch out, have a jam then bring it home for the last couple of minutes. They never blow it or overdo it.Love this record.

I could probably count on one hand the amount of bad songs the Beatles have. I guess you could think otherwise if you think their early stuff is just pop fluff but I like that stuff.

Vampirska - The Vampyric Condition: Romanticism & Mystique Masked by an Empty Face...to Never be Seen Again...

Because song titles are just not long enough.
Second half of this one is both uplifting and tragic at the same time which very few bands seem to capture these days.
