Bolt Thrower - World Eater

If you can translate war into a song then this would be it. This song just reeks of open hostility in all fronts.

King's X - Let It Rain

New King's X single from their Three Sides Of One album (releasing on the same day as new Megadeth). As soulful and heavy as their last works. Love it.

Iron Reagan - Fuck the Neighbors

I really can't tell the difference between Iron Reagan and Municipal Waste. Both have a similar crossover thrash style, have the same lyrical topics and the distinct vocals of Tony Foresta are all common denominators for both bands. Not that I'm complaining. I do enjoy the band's music. I'm just thinking out loud why there should be two in existence?

Bolt Thrower - Powder Burns

Even their "weaker" material sounds damn good to me. One of the few bands that can ride a simple riff or pattern for a long time and really pull it off.

[I posted this in the wrong thread! Sorry about that]

Vond - Slipp sorgen løs

Currently my favourite Vond song. What a way to end this depressing album. It also made me slightly uncomfortable, because the album is about suicide and a journey to the afterlife, and this almost ends on a happy and hopeful melody. As if taking your own life is a relief. Very difficult to deal with emotionally, and I can see someone being offended by it if they are suicidal or have lost someone to suicide. The song is just so damn good though. Slowly adding layers to the same basic melody.

Toxik - Power

Honestly, this is a pretty strong single.
Hope the new album's good.

Iron Reagan leans more into the punk influence than Municipal Waste currently does, imo. They're closer to what MW were doing on their first album than anything else. They're also less outwardly goofy.
Both are great bands, of course.

Yeah, that's what I was thought too. MW has progressively become more metal-leaning with every subsequent release and the new album looks to continue this trend. I guess the members needed to have another outlet for their punk/hardcore side.

Morbid Angel - The Invocation - Chapel Of Ghouls

Abominations of Desolation was a solid debut album despite what David Vincent is trying to convince you to believe.

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery

Love the melodies on this one, it easily blows The Jester Race and Slaughter of the Soul out of the water IMO

Plebeian Grandstand - False Highs, True Lows

So this is what so-called Hipster black sounds like? This is nothing to write home about but I appreciate the really somber feeling this is conveying.

Butthole Surfers - Brown Reason to Live/ Live PCPPEP

This shit is crazy as fuck but it somehow always works with a few big cans of beer.

Coheed and Cambria - Our Love

This new Co&Ca album seems to lean more toward their hooky side.
Not complaining, mind you.

Tomorrows just an excuse away...

Exises - Some Sort of Freedom

You'd think that these guys were from the US and not from The Netherlands. Musically, it's got that mid 80's rocking USPM vibe going on. Very cool!

Alice In Chains - Choke

The perfect closer to one of their absolute best albums. It’s raw, brooding, and powerful. Just so fucking good.

Darkane - Embrace the Flames

So Darkane released a new album yesterday. This tune is a banger, though I'm not completely sold on the sound (hints of that modern sterile production, though thankfully it's not overbearing; all in all, passable) and some ideas. Overall, it seems like it's going to be another solid album of theirs.

Attacker - The Hermit

Love how this kicks off with a riff lifted straight from Iron Maiden's Rime of the Ancient Mariner and who could forget the vocalist? This guy sounds freakin' nuts!

Budgie - In for the Kill
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Bit of a 70s afternoon so far. SBS has always been a favorite. Not much else like it, very unique vibe.

Nile Vile Nilotic Rites

The album of resurrection,an incredible and stunning piece of art

Superb the linear notes of Karl(an idea of Ross Dolan and Bob Vigna -yes we must thank too for that brothers)

Heretic – Breaking Point

A fine slice of USPM with Mike Howe that edges out some of the things he did with Metal Church.

Cirith Ungol – Forever Black

Solid comeback album that comes and goes like a ghost. Between the ghostly coming and going, they still play ancient blues-based epic metal, and Tim Baker still caws like an old crow.

Megadeth - Dystopia

Haven't listened in at least a few years. Some solid riffs here and there, and the solos are always fantastic. The lyrics can be a little too Kooky Republican Uncle for my tastes, so I'm hoping that Dave has stopped watching Alex Jones since he got back into cannabis.

Riot - Dance of Death

More speed metal with hard rock vocal lines would be awesome. They really had a flair and style.

Seasons of the Wolf - Nocturnal Revelation

Such a great fucking album; strong, crunchy, groovy riffs, charismatic vocals, ghouslihly occult vibes and lyrics.

Seasons of the Wolf - Ghost Woman

The genuine DIY, heartfelt feel of these kinds of albums really bleeds through.

Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics

The first few tracks are kinda weak but the rest is on par with When the Kite String Pops. Songs like 13 fingers and New Corpse fucking rips.

The first three songs are my top 3 off that album. Dead Girl is also up there.

Deathrow - Narcotic

I'm slowly really starting to get this album the more I listen to it, I just love how urgent the writing is, and it has a strange mix of mechanical and human sounding Qualities that I dig.

Imagine how much I'll be praising it in the years to come, great stuff

It’s an amazing album, every song is good but I prefer the more agressive, menacing side of Acid Bath.

I never got around to this yet. Should just do it soon.

Jack White - The White Raven

A standout... cranking fucking riff, a great attitude, these enigmatic lyrics.

Fates Warning - Fata Morgana

It's been a year or two but this is definitely an unequivocal work of genius. Everything about it is totally singular.

That's a great album!

NP: Heir Apparent - Keeper of the Reign

Acrobatic vocal wails that make it between some enchanting guitar passages. Wonderful stuff - how some people claim that these bands weren't power metal is rather beyond me.

Heir Apparent is killer.

Fates Warning - From the Rooftops

This is a really unique way to start an album. It's been a bit since I played this one. A really cool, crisp listen.

If anything is a bit of a guilty pleasure, then this:

Baton Rouge - Lights Out on the Playground

Unabashedly commercial hard rock / hair "metal" from 1991, but fuck me if it isn't catchy at best, and unencumbered by (the knowledge of) asshole egos. It's also a partly a nostalgia thing, since it was among a pile of cassettes my dad picked up from a local fleamarket circa 1998. It had longhaired dudes on the cover and a sword in the logo so I listened to it! Not quite what I was expecting, but the memory of it stuck, apparently. If you drop "Desperate" and a few other ultracheesy bits, you get a really nice rock album. Take this song for example.
