You made me want of Fates Warning so
A Pleasent shade of gray and Disconnect one after other….

I prefer the first works but just for nostalgia sincerely the post Arch works are all consistent

Atheist - Why Bother?

A band that I totally forgot for my top 10 metal albums of the '90s list. This album should not be overlooked. It's technical yet heavy and definitely one of the best albums to come out of the Florida death metal scene from the early '90s.

Gnaw Their Tongues - All the Dread Magnificence of Perversity

And now for something completely different… This is a fine nightmarish experience but it’s only a once in a while kind of listen.

Saxon - State of Grace

A real corker to open up this record.

Their debut is by far my favorite album they've done.
Maybe I just like them better when they're more of a punk band.

Dawn - Ride The Wings Of Pestilence

First time listening to Dawn. There really were a lot of great melodic black/death metal bands from Sweden who emerged in the '90s.

Titan Force – Titan Force

One of Harry Conklin's projects, less bombastic, slightly more technical and all but forgotten today. I never liked Jag Panzer and I never liked Conklin in Jag Panzer but Titan Force was a different beast. I guess, if you're a fan of USPM, it's impossible to dislike gems like this one:

Vader - Reborn in Flames

Love this guitar tone and Doc for me is the same as Dave Lombardo, he opened my eyes to new things in drumming. Sure Vader had very talented people on the stool after him but nobody really had his feel. Kind of like Bostaph in Slayer, well done but just not the same.

Suck that the one chance I had to see them they were obviously having an off night at a tiny shitty club. Just not a lot of energy and they were totally out of merch.

Symphony X - The Edge of Forever

Revisiting this was a good idea. There's some good riffs flying around and these guys never start to show off with exaggerated musical cuts.

Fates Warning - At Fates Hands

Stunning piece of music... I'm not even a musician at all, but I really find I can get into examples of really virtuosic, well-done musicianship. Matheos's guitar playing is so subdued but so fucking intriguing when you really pay attention. And the writing just uncoils and builds and builds. It's really something.

Morkhgrat - A Lie Foretold

One of the better black metal bands to emerge from the Philippines. This is actually a one-man project that is heavily influenced by Darkthrone. Yes, the music is raw but the production is much better than most albums of this style.

Amorphis - My Kantele (acoustic reprise)

I've always enjoyed this slow, folksy version of this track which was a perfect way to close out the album.

Paradise Lost - Draconian Times (album)

There were a few mentions of this band in the top 10 thread so I took note. Good Lord, I love that feeling when curiosity pays dividends; absolutely wonderful album! The singer sounds like Hetfield and Danzig at the same time, truly remarkable.

Watchtower - Concepts Of Math - Book One

Hmmm... their M-A page has them as active again (their facebook hasn't been updated in a long time though). Hopefully they'll record something soon.

NP: Sword - Metalized

True fucking metal album filled with pure bangers and enthralling riffs.

Elder - Reflections of a Floating World

I know a lot of people don’t like this guy’s vocals but I don’t mind them honestly. They kind of fade into the background anyway and the music is great, some sort of combo of stoner rock/metal, heavy psych and prog rock. Even reminds me of Mastodon at points, some of these riffs would fit just fine on Crack the Skye.

Aania yossa and Sanojesi aarelle are the peak of Horna in my modest opinion,Sotahuuto is bit different cause is dedicated to Quorton but it’s ok.
I like all phase of Horna but with Corvus at vocals they wrote best bm so far…

Now listening The Cure Phornography

I think that album is fantastic

Symphony X - Smoke and Mirrors

Thunder progressive/power metal with plenty of attitude. Russell Allen sounds great; sort of reminds me of a muscular Tony Martin.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Braveheart

'Facing the Animal' was a strong effort from Yngwie that came out in the mid-'90s. I especially like the performance of singers Mats Levin on this album. Braveheart is one of the standout tracks and it contains familiar elements of Yngwie's music - classical elements, shredding solos and melodic vocals.

Fates Warning - Life In Still Water

All this Fates Warning in the NP thread made me listen to 'Parallels'. Such a great album. This track in particular is the standout and my favorite. Great vocals by Ray Alder on this track and complemented by equally great backing vocals by James LaBrie (who recorded this prior to joining Dream Theater). I remember watching a music video for this track (where LaBrie also made an appearance) and I was looking for it online but it's not on Youtube.
