Quote:
A name for Kerry King‘s post-SLAYER project has potentially been leaked.

An LLC, or limited liability company, is a common way for bands to register as a formal business entity, allowing them both risk protection and granting them potential tax benefits. The specified name of that company is Blood Reign

I've heard way worse band names. I'll judge it when I hear some music.

I want to see Kerry explore music away from thrash. It'll be interesting if he chooses to do something towards a Judas Priest or Mercyful Fate style. Everything he's done since he went bald has been bland as fuck outside of a very few select tracks. He's got no more thrash riffs in him.

Why are we blaming his baldness for his downgrade in songwriting? That's probably a coincidence.

I get the joke part, but I don't really get how anyone could unironically believe that baldness is a factor in music quality, like Terri appears to be doing.

Blood Reign is a terrible name. All it does is remind us that this is not Slayer and that we really should be listening to Slayer instead of whatever shit these guys are going to release.

Lol. Brilliant! True indeed! It's comparable to the story of Samson, who lost his strength when his hair was cut by Delilah. When Kerry lost the follicles on his bonce he lost the ability to write good songs.

Take from this what you will
Nearly two years after he revealed that he had more than two records' worth of music written for his new band, King stated about the new material's direction: "You know me, so you know what it's going to sound like. I played this new song for a buddy, and I said to him, 'If there's anything I've written in the last few years that sounds like SLAYER, it's this.' And he said, 'That sounds like you could have pulled it off of any SLAYER record.' I actually made that riff up backstage at a SLAYER show. We were walking to the stage and I got my phone out and recorded it so I wouldn't forget it."

If it sounds like Slayer, even more recent Slayer, I'm definitely interested in checking it out. Don't really know much myself about his personal life or musical interests, but from what comes up on here when he's mentioned people were saying he might go in a nu or groove direction when he forms a new band.

He’s earned a lot of the criticism, over the decades. But, he also wrote some really good stuff. I’m a big fan of Slayer, but I think that they ruined things, by being lazy, and thinking they could do no wrong. Once they became a dumber, lazier, parody of Slayer, it got boring.

If he has good musicians, and they listen to each other, and they evaluate their stuff, with a critical ear, and care about quality, it could be really good. Especially if it doesn’t just sound like Slayer. It sounds like it’s just going to be like Repentless, which was shit.

I'm curious who Kerry will snag to fill vocals. The old rumours said Phil Anselmo, but that was back in October 2021 or something.

I actually have an ugly Christmas sweater that says Sleigher in the Slayer font with Santa giving the horns.

I know it has always been a thing, but the whole concept of bands fronted by people trying to rehash what they've been doing in their previous band is kind of amazing. It's often on the nose with the name too. Blood Reign, Deathriders, KK's Priest, etc. Actually, I kinda want to see a band formed exclusively by people who used to be in more famous bands, that could probably be interesting (not necessarily good, just interesting), it's at the very least a new concept I guess. And who knows, it could be good, if the band members' egos stay out of the way.

Blood Reign sounds like one of those mediocre modern power/thrash metal bands you can find dozens of on Massacre Records or the like.

Dave Grohl. He's the answer to everything. remastering classics. commentary on music he discovered last year. You name it, he is the fix. And when he isn't available, call Henry Rollins.

I'll take Blood Reign over all the other possibilities... Slayer AD, Slayer BC, King's Slayer, Slayer featuring Kerry King...

I assume it'll be the same stale, trivial garbage he's been putting out these last few decades. I'd be interested in seeing him departing the Slayer sound completely and doing something different, like a death metal band or something.

New stuff will sound like Slayer and they will probably cover Slayer live. Not sure why people are asking Kerry King to reinvent himself at this point. Slayer did enough. Someone else can push things now. He is doing a new band because he wants to.
