Oh hell yeah, good call. It's so mystical sounding, I love it. I like the jam part of the song just fine (a lot, even) but I do wish the acoustic/vocal part was fleshed out more.

Too long:

Too Short:

- Adagio - Archangels In Black
- Stratovarius - Holy Light - If you go for an instrumental, don't cut it off in the middle.

The Ides Of March.

I get that it's an intro, but it's such a good piece of music that it's kind of over way too soon.

I feel the same about Kamelot's Regis Arpetura (can't be assed looking up the correct spelling). Again an intro, but it's got such an inspirational middle that really 'gets going', and then it's kind of over all of a sudden.

I always though that sudden cut was the narrator either committing suicide or being killed. Kind of cheesy if you ask me.

Too short:
“The Wanderer” by Emperor. Another minute, or more, would add to its majesty.

hmnn...that makes sense imo...especially second option.

Darkthrone - Cromlech: The outro with the half time groove is way too short, it's the best part of the song but it's around for barely 20 seconds.

I had Fear Factory's Obsolete on recently, and as much as I love Smasher / Devourer, I've always thought that it was too long. It'd be perfect if it ended around 04:07, but then they add another minute and a half of "I am the way, prepare for salvation / Salvation", and it's really not needed.

I get some intros if they are short. Kind of like how Bathory had that outro for their first handful of albums. Who thought it was okay for Onslaught to have the intro on In Search of Sanity, "Asylum", be over five minutes. I can understand one, maybe two, but five?

I can totally imagine getting the album on cassette as a new release, and fast forwarding at around the one and a half minute mark, holding it in until it reaches the four and a half minute on. "This is still on?"

I could see "Mother Russia" by Iron Maiden being maybe 45-60 seconds longer. No Prayer for the Dying was nothing special as an album; it was the first Maiden first album that wasn't great. It's also the only Iron Maiden album without a song that was six minutes or longer. It's definitely structured like an epic that was slightly shortened. I still like the song, despite not really caring for the album it was on.

I agree with whoever said that Iron Maiden could definitely have trimmed the fat on their newer releases. I found the songs on Senjutsu to be like a buildup with no real climax. On the next album, I think they should have the album have about eight songs, and be about 55 minutes or so, with maybe two songs around the eight or nine minute mark or so, and the rest hovering around the four to seven minute mark. I don't see that happening, though. I'll definitely still listen to it, regardless, but I have a feeling it will be a 90-100 minute release with every song being at least six minutes in length, with most being far longer. Senjutsu wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great, either. I hope Iron Maiden have at least one more great album in them.
