Norwegian black metallers Tsjuder will release their sixth full length, Helvegr, on June 23 through Season of Mist. From the press release:

Quote:
TSJUDER is emerging with a brand-new full-length opus for the first time since 2015! Featuring a renewed lineup with drum master Jon “The Charn” Rice holding down the throne, Helvegr is an authentic display of the true Norwegian black metal sound that Tsjuder helped define in the 90s. With this blistering aural assault, the band is certain to conquer 2023 with blasphemy and blast beats!

Tracklisting:
1. Iron Beast
2. Prestehammeren
3. Surtr
4. Gamle-Erik
5. Chaos Fiend
6. Gods of Black Blood
7. Helvegr
8. Faenskap og Død
9. Hvit Død

Gods of Black Blood has been released as the first single:
Spoiler: show

Well it's been quite a few years since their last release, but Tsjuder are back with a new one. The first single is pretty much classic Tsjuder in terms of sound, nothing surprising but I don't think anyone expected anything different.

Haven't thought about Tsjuder in a while, so it's cool to know they're still around. Listening to this track, it's hard to find something to complain about, and it yet it's definitely no Desert Northern Hell. Honestly, Tsjuder are an example of a band who have that one album that's so head-and-shoulders above the rest of their discography that it ends up being the only one I ever turn to.

Also, that's not really the sort of album art I want from Tsjuder. Come on, just give me a pack of corpsepainted ghouls wielding battle-axes and torches. At least it's not as bad as the new Immortal album cover.

I love their first three albums, but I'm kind of indifferent with Legion Helvete and Antiliv. I did like the newest single, though, so maybe this album won't be so bad.

Very much looking forward to this, I love all their albums except 'Antiliv' that left me a bit cold, exciting to see where they go with this one.

Track was exactly what I want from Tsjuder. Instant purchase.

Me too. I have a couple of their albums which I enjoy quite a lot. The new song is pretty good as well in my opinion.

Tsjuder were never likely to try and reinvent the wheel, as long as I get my dose of blast heavy semi-melodic BM from them I'm more than happy.

Been into them for some years now, Great band! And quite under appreciated, i agree with another post on here saying the first three albums were the best, they were, the fourth and fifth were enjoyable just not spectacular. I remember Antiliv being a bit on the slow side. I tried Urgehal a while back and i felt they just copy Tsjuder, which they do. Still its been 8 years almost now and ive heard their sixth album mentioned many times for a good while

Legion Helvete is the only Tsjuder album I own or have ever listened to and I fucking love it to bits. It has that rare quality of being both catchy as fuck and fun to listen to, yet very uncompromising and punishing, while on the other side traditionally sounding but neither boring nor really copycatting anyone...

You need 'Desert northern hell'.

This song was not bad, but also not really impressive either. Outside of Desert Northern Hell, Tsjuder is much the same for me - a band that's just there.

I don't get the "this is generic" comments. I think the first single was a very well constructed black metal song. It had a perfect flow, just a very well written song that you can tell came from a band that has experience. You can tell that the guys are still passionate about their music, and there's a charm to that.

Ive just listened to the whole thing, total brilliance throughoit loved it, well worth the 8 year wait. Theyre definitely one of my fav norwegian black metal bands. Anti christians absence has changed nothing, this session musician is just as brutal. Plenty of relentless blasts as usual but still some breathers thrown in, riffs and solos have always been their strength too and all that is too notch, Right now i feel its better than Antiliv, so out of 10 i’d say 9.5 or even 10. It had been a long long time since i heard a modern black metal masterpiece amd Tsjuders new album hit the right spot for me, if theyre going to keep this up i pray it doesnt take another 8 years for their seventh album! Well done Tsjuder.

Gave this one a listen earlier today. Definitely a lot better than the last two albums, that's for sure.

I thought this too, its def more like their first three, the last album while not terrible they lost their edge a bit and and the production was bad, but thats been fixed here 100% and theres alot of fast songs. You generally cant go wrong with any Tsjuder but Legion Helvete and Antiliv are their weakest.
