For me it's Hallas. I love their chill 70s rock vibe, but sometimes it's just way too chill. Speeding them up turns them into an absolutely killer trad metal band:

Any type o song played at 1.5x turns into a house/techno/dance song. Swear to god. It’s fascinating.

I think meshuggah is fucking brilliant when you turn the speed up to the point where it's a whistle only dogs can hear that's when I find them to be at their peak

I used to listen to Megadeth albums at around 1.13x and I'd pitch down 3-4 semitones. You can do it separately with Audacity.
At first I did it as a joke to see what a death metal megadeth would sound like. which is really dumb,
but it's strange. it's actually pretty good. Something about it really works.

Also slowing it down. Works for pretty much anything you already like and want to hear in more detail.

I've found that either way, slow down or speeding up albums is a really fun way to hear stuff that's way too familiar in a new light.

I think Meshuggah is fucking brilliant when you turn the volume down to the point where you can no longer hear it.
But that's just me- I don't like that band, at ANY speed.

I once heard someone play Death's "Scream Bloody Gore" at 45 RPM and it sounded like 90's black metal- at least four years before that was ever a thing. And it was kind of cool. Though of course I like it at the "normal" speed as well.

I did enjoy The Writing on the Wall at 1.25 on YouTube. Nearly puts me to sleep at normal speed.

If you aren't slowing down your funeral doom metal album by 0.5x, are you even a true fan?

speaking of metal EDM, I was blasting Sound of Perseverance in the car a while back and there's a beat on 2:24 or so of Spirit Crusher that just made me feel like I was listening to a dance beat. Especially with that squeaky clean production and overall late 90s aesthetic the album has. Sounds like a hardcore (edm not punk genre) beat but disrupted by the double bass rolls. Just an uncanny moment. I always though that riff, while super catchy, needed some rethinking too, for just sounding too on the nose.

Unintentional dance beats probably happen a lot in metal honestly. But the production offsets their cheesiness. There's a four on the floor section somewhere on Kill Em All that's just ghastly

Chipmunks on 16 speed is a great example of this - but in the other direction. Made by a guy named Brian Borcherdt and it's Alvin and the Chipmunks cover tracks slowed down, creating some genuinely cool rock tracks. The Call Me cover is my favorite

A lot of the songs of the most recent Running Wild album get better if you speed them up a bit.

A lot of power metal albums sound better when they are sped up by 120-130%

If anything, I think it'd be more enjoyable for me to turn Metallica into Amebix by slowing it down by 25% rather than speeding it up. But then, the idea of playing music at a tempo other than the one it was recorded sounds like it will be fun for the entirety of 5 minutes and just silly afterwards.

Faster modern death metal at 1.5x, not deathcore. Incredibly :
Spoiler: show

This is one of the reasons a lot of bands come across better live- most bands play a bit faster on stage than on record and that makes the songs feel more energetic.

Word on the street is that a Sunn O))) record at 0.25x is the same note as full speed, but longer!

That can be good and it can also ruin the groove of a good song that gets sped up too much. But yeah that live energy can be a boon.
