Tyr was just about a perfect masterpiece.

Headless Cross and Tyr are easily the two most underrated albums in W.A.S.P.'s discography. Tony Martin at his peak is as good a singer as any of the other top tier vocalists of his era.

Favorite W.A.S.P. album since Headless Cross ya dummies. Seems like a perfectly reasonable question.

He was easily better than Blackie Lawless on Born Again. Such a miss match in styles and quality.

Oh damn, a thread about my favorite band. Let's go!

While The Crimson Idol was definitely the highlight of their career, I thought Still Not Black Enough kept the momentum going well. K.F.D. was nasty; he beat Manson at his own game. I also liked a lot of Dominator and the good stuff Helldorado is super fun. As someone who likes almost every era of this group, I'd say that their 90's era was certainly the strongest of any 'glam metal' band, and it's where we saw the potential of the group fulfilled. The only part of their career I'd say pass on is their modern born-again stuff.

'Dying for the world' is my absolute favourite WASP album. I prefer their darker mood than the party metal vibe of their earlier work, I think it really suits them.
I don't like 'The crimson idol' as much as most people do, I understand why certain lyrics and instrumental passages are repeated - for continuity of the story - but I don't like it, and placing two ballads in a row kills the B side for me.

It's late here in Australia. I didn't even notice and wondered why everyone was going on about Sabbath in a W.A.S.P. thread

Anyhow, just to clear it all up: Best WASP is probably Crimson Idol (after the debut and Inside the Electric Circus). The best Sabbath post Ozzy/Dio is probably Headless Cross.

Hope this helps!

He didn't really sound like him, but he definitely outshocked him. To the point where American promoters wouldn't even let him do that stage show. I don't half blame the promoters, that shit is revolting.

What happened on the K.F.D. tour?

He fucked a dead pig and did some other black metal tier antics. Had a naked woman dressed as a nun onstage too if I recall correctly.

And to the point I made about K.F.D., I didn't mean that he was apparently out to copy Manson's sound, because that obviously wasn't the case; I meant it more loosely in the sense that they were both out to make the most venomous, shocking music they could at around the same time, and in that way, K.F.D. completely outdid Manson.

They where just props, the nun was a dummy and i think the pig was latex.

The nun was raped using a knife blade codpiece, and Blackie would end up pulling her 'baby' out.

The pig got hacked up with a samurai sword.

But fuck yes did they outdid everyone with that stage show! Including the horror of Blackie riding his mic stand, while wearing rubber stockings and a jockstrap, showering most of the front row in ass sweat.

An yeah Great angry as fuck album, sounds like a big Doors influence on it, though with everything drenched in distortion

K.F.D. is the only album I can think of that can be described as Industrial/Heavy Metal. I haven't heard anything like it, good album.

I'm assuming you meant "The Headless Children", but since Headless Cross came out the same year the question doesn't differ much haha.

1. Crimson Idol
2. Dying For The World
3. Still Not Black Enough
4. K.F.D.
5. Helldorado
6. Neon God Part I & II
7. Unholy Terror
8. Dominator
9. Babylon

With that list, I like all those albums as I like all W.A.S.P. albums. There's moments on every album that are worth listening to.

I'd also debate that Crimson Idol is possibly the best album they've done and that Dying For The World is a top 5 album from them.

Crimson Idol is an instant shoo-in for best WASP album but as far as the post-classic stuff, Dying for the World is right in my sweet spot with that darker flavor. I can also get into Babylon even if the track list isn’t the most cohesive.

I never looked at it that way, but you're absolutely right. "The Horror" definitely has a similar eerie feel as something like "The End".

I even like Helldorado, but agree with the sentiment. Blackie tends to repeat himself, but it's always good to great.
