Id say one of the vocal tracks is pitch shifted down.

Like a Deicide thing? Sounds like there's something more though, like a weird filter or something.

this seems likely. there's at least two vocal layers, one normal, one pitch-shifted down. the layers are bit loose in timing which also helps accentuate the differences.

Yeah, it sounds like the loose timing is creating a slight flanged type effect.

It's basically that demonic vocal effect that Deicide similarly uses. They might sound a bit much at first, but I've come to enjoy that type of vocal style.

I’d put my money on it being an an Eventide H3000 using its pitch shifter algorithms.

Didn't they just call it 'the harmonizer'?

That is what they call it on the liner notes to Grave's "Into the Grave" reissue (for the effect on "For Your God")

It's a pitch shifter (or harmonizer?) on one of the vocal tracks to add a different ''monster'' layer in the background.

I believe Carcass has used something similar on at least one track on ''Symphonies of Sickness.''
