Probably lifted from there, however, more generally, the rhythm is that of Ravel's Boléro.

Deep Purple used this in their cover of Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe in 1968 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRW_gMc9j7U#t=27s).

It is often used to make a dramatic entry.

The part around the mark 0:40 reminds me of the galloping beat of Immigrant Song.

Sabaton's new song, Defense of Moscow, has a part that has been clearly lifted from Europe's The Final Countdown.

Thought of a weird one during my exercise yesterday.

Entombed's "Chief Rebel Angel" and Metallica's "That Was Just Your Life".

Do I think James and Lars heard the Entombed song and lifted the idea? Probably not, but it's a very similar vibe/feeling. Both start with that heartbeat effect, followed by a similar tempo clean tone and is intercut with impactful heavy sections. I had a playlist on random and Chief Rebel Angel started and I thought it was Metallica for the first few bars.

Enter The Eternal Fire by Bathory and For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica are so alike its unreal.
I originally thought that Metallica had ripped off Bathory until I checked the release dates .

Metallica were sinned against .

Both great songs though .

Vandenberg's Wait (1982) borrows from AC/DC's Hell's Bells for a few seconds. Sounds like the kind of riff someone would write after having spent a few seconds trying to figure out Hell's Bells.

One of the Deep Purple ballads from the early 90s record sounds a lot like a Scorpions ballad.

Any mainstream bass line from the 90's post Nirvana... And even more obvious and has probably been mentioned, Iron Maiden- 2 minutes... Dio- Stand Up and Shout, Saxon, can't remember the tune but it's the most overused riff ever.

Pretty sure this one wasn't mentioned yet despite being fairly old. This one is for all the power metal listeners. lol

Opening song to the first Avantasia album, pay close attention to the chorus and then listen to the chorus of this:

Ride The Sky, a brief project featuring ex-Helloween and ex-Masterplan drummer Uli Kusch, it's almost an identical melody despite the songs being radically different stylistically.

I'm intrigued.. the only ballad from the early 90s would be Love Conquers All and I can't see which Scorpions' ballad sounds like it.

EDIT: Can't find the album on the Archives. I think it's maybe a tribute album to Kalapàcs?

Speaking of Deep Purple ballads.

I wonder if Bob Dylan had heard "Soldier of Fortune" when he wrote "One More Cup Of Coffee". The melody, cadence and phrasing is almost identical in the verses:

Was looking for '90s death metal albums and came across this (I'm not the first to point this out).

1995 - Agony - Apocalyptic Dawning
2019 - Blood Incantation - Hidden History...

I love that color scheme. Very "80s", but more like the chrome metal/road warrior alternative of retrowave. It had to be intentional.

Not super close, but I hear some similarity in these:

By the archive's standards Slipknot isn't metal, or at least they're debatably so. I consider them metal, so I'll tolerate using them here.

But the similarity is probably going to permanently end their chances of ever getting on Metal Archives.

Hey, edgelord anthem that is Disasterpiece. What is this? What other song do I hear at 3:46?

Spoiler: show

I just NEED to imagine some edgy 14-year-old and their tween sibling in their own rooms bopping to these songs at that exact moment both chord progressions line up, some Saturday afternoon circa the summer of 2002.

Can anyone hear similarities in the Grinder main riff (Priest) and the Creeping Death main riff?

I'm not sure if this has been posted here, but the main riff from Maiden's '2 Minutes to Midnight' has been used and recycled countless times in hard rock and metal as evidenced by this Youtube video.

I observed this at the beginning of the year, but didn't think about posting it until just now. Not quite the same chord progression, but a very similar feel from the rhythm guitars and drums in the verses.

Hah, that's pretty funny. And it reminds me of one of my favorite things on the internet which is this. I was/am a big fan of both artists, and it's ludicrous how well these songs go together.

This ripoff is so shameful that Anti Flag deserves to be sued. It is one thing to steal a riff or a melody, but Anti Flag legitimately copied this entire song. I know its not quite metal, but "Reaction" by From Ashes Rise is an incredible song that I think most metal people would be able to appreciate.

This track from the new Aborted album at about 1:52 in reminds me a lot of the Misery Index song Naysayer, from their last album.

I doubt I need to link Metallica's One but I've always found it fascinating how the soundtrack for computer RPG Ultima 5 (it's Commodore Amiga version) was spot on with that song.

Great rendition, right? How much would they have sued Origin/Richard Garriot had they found out about this do you think?

according to the m-a entry for their next album, "[the label] was later forced to change the cover art of this album due to it having been taken from another band without permission". sounds like a recurring theme :D

I here zero similarities betwen Lost Paradise and anything Dethklok has ever written, so this is confusing to me.

Here are THREE verses with very similar melodies :D

Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man (2000)
0:18 -

Starblind - Tears Of A Soldier (2020)
0:42 -

Thomas Carlsen - Redemption (2021)
1:03 -

Too bad the embeds doesn't play at the right spot from my timestamp links.

I'm pretty sure I have heard more vocal lines "exactly" like this, can anybody link more songs?

Maybe Enforcer's Katana verse riff at 0:41? it changes in the second part but the first seems spot on
