no fkng way.... that's just embarrassing.
That's when you can tell some bands are just producing metal as a means to earn money, like it doesn't matter you're clearly ripping off an iconic riff from a seminal band for a genre, as long as it's a sellable product with top notch sound and cover art and the right big metal names.

OK, can somebody help me? This has been haunting me for days now! It's Deadsoul Tribe and their song My Dying Wish. That chorus is soooo familiar, but I can't remember where from. It's killing me!

I remember when Abigail Williams were getting...uh, an interesting reaction from various metal communities. I checked out their debut album to decide how I felt for myself and shamelessly enjoyed it, being a fan of slickly produced cheesy symphonic black metal (though I haven't enjoyed an AW album since - haven't checked out the new one yet however). I also didn't really hear much of the 'core' everyone was talking about (until I checked out the EP preceeding this at least). "The Departure" immediately caught my attention, via sounding a hell of a lot like "In Death's Embrace" by Dimmu Borgir (mostly at the beginning of the song).

Listen to some solos from the Mercyful Fate band and then go listen to the 70's UFO records with Schenker. Especially Don't Break The Oath and UFO's Lights Out record. Very similar sounding.

I find the closing song from the new Slough Feg, "The Cynic" sounds similiar to Manowar's "Battle Hymns".

I've always thought the opening measures to Slough Feg's "Eumeaus the Swineherd" sound pretty close to the main riff of Dissection's "Where Dead Angels Lie."

VERY TRUE.

Also, just heard "P.A.A.B" by Flotsam & Jetsam and thought maybe Atlantean Kodex's "Lion of Chaldea" borrowed the intro.

as a result of the IM/BB thread, I discovered this atrocity very non-maidenish maiden song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-Ru8phxhHg

which rips off borrows heavily from The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrHUD2XmLN4

for search purposes: the angel and the gambler

Something I came across when looking through Kristian Wåhlin artworks (you can click the images to see the album pages. Most know the second is Nokturnal Mortum).

Was listening to Jungle Rot's Skin the Living yesterday, and "Decapitated" (0:14) reminded me a lot of Fear Factory's "Crash Test" (0:37) - times included as they're not embedding properly for some reason.

Has anyone else noticed that the main riff from Burzum's "Det Som Engang Var" sounds like the main riff from Death In June's "Heaven Street"?

Looks to be a statue made for the grave of the artist's wife;

It's old but fuck it.

Naildown - Lame (4:21)

The Haunted - Chasm (intro riff)

Actually, a lot of the riffs on that Guillotine album were borrowed from the first two full length Kreator albums, if I recall correctly.

I also could have sworn I heard about them being called out on taking Kreator riffs, and they claimed they didn't know Kreator's music.

In the early days of metal it was common for bands to have a variation on the main riff of Cream's 'Sunshine of Your Love';

Numenorean - Adore at around 5:17

And Enslaved - Raidho at around 0:25

Enslaved came first. Doesn't mean Adore isn't a great track though, I really like it in spite (or because) of the similarity. It helps that Raidho's one of my favorite Enslaved song.

Pretty fun streak of cover arts I've come across recently. The first two are by the same artist, though I can't find any info on who drew the Necroblood one.

The riff that starts just after the 5:00 mark of Exodus' Deathamphetamine:

https://youtu.be/0TPdasz6nN4

is reminiscent of Blood Red Throne's Mary Whispers of Death and its opening riff:

https://youtu.be/h1kpUmV1Otg

Blood Red Throne's is a bit bouncier, Exodus has a flashier production job.

I hear a lot of similarities in Motorhead's "Liar" from the Bastards album (1993) and Metallica's "Bad Seed" from ReLoad (1998).

I've often thought many parts of Reload sounded more like mid-era Motorhead than 90's alternative. I could have totally heard Fuel on a 90's motorhead album.

Always found this one to be an interesting coincidence.

Just heard "Rebecca" by Ritual from the 1983 album "Widow", and it sounds like Metallica may have borrowed the chorus riff for Bells from this (if it wasn't from the Sabbath song mentioned earlier)

Carnage's Torn Apart and Carcass' Incarnated Solvent Abuse were both co-written by Michael Amott, and were released within one year of each other. They both feature a very similar riff which I found interesting, it seems Amott took it with him when he left Carnage.

It seems like Incarnated Solvent Abuse was removed from YouTube, unfortunately.

Deep Purple: Anya

00:48 when THAT melody happens, and...

Edguy: Wasted Time

00:52 almost THAT melody happens...

Both songs have a very different intro, but damn, only few seconds into song, THAT melody... They are not the same, quite, but...

So, I'm not a fan of DragonForce, but I noticed today that "Through the fire and flames" intro is very similar to After Forever's "Forlorn Hope".

Cool.. By the way, th other riff in Anya is recycled from Rainbow's Stranded (1983).

I was listening to Danzig recently and it dawned on me how Her Black Wing's riff (1990) is unashamedly lifted from Black Sabbath's Zero the Hero (1983):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWzSy3Am3ns&t=4m20s

Move over Guns'N'Roses..

In all fairness, this was pointed out a while ago on this forum: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49141 by Acrobat, but not in this thread.
