This cover is just as good as the music itself. Why does she look like Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way from this?

lmao. general etiquette dictates that foot fetish jokes on a metal forum need to involve Niklas Kvarforth before mr. Pilfered MovieScript :p and I reckon they both prefer Uma's to Bilbo Baggins' :D

Actually I found this in my collection and am now listening to this. The cover hurts my eyes... The booklet contains totally awful artwork, too. And this picture set: first a mountain, then a nuclear bomb explosion, and lastly a huge impact crater. I guess they sing about nuclear war here...

The music's not that bad, thankfully, even though this kind of Swedish power metal is one thing I haven't much got into! But heard, much much worse stuff of this ilk. Soft "s" of the singer is one thing that annoys me...

I thank Opsius for linking these guys on Discord. None of the other releases this guy was involved in have covers this janky though.

Perhaps nobody mentioned it yet because it's not a cover art atrocity, which is what the topic is about.

Just post cheap shitty pornogrind album covers and leave Sodom alone. Besides, they've got at least 3 or 4 other albums with objectively far worse cover art than Tapping the Vein.

Callenish Circle - My Passion // You Pain

A guy (probably Spider-man without his outfit, because of that web he throws from his hand) penetrating another guy's torso body in some future time?!??!

The new upcoming Primal Fear record looks the it was shit out in about 25 minutes.

I know everything has been very formulaic for years, but they could have at least put a little more effort into this? Also very surprised this was announced days ago and no thread for it / not added to their page yet.

You know I've listened to it since and it's actually pretty alright grind

and it's free

My favorite part is the guitar on the lower right where you can tell where he cut the hands that were holding it out though

(Almost) all '...and Oceans' artworks are just bad (because there's an upcoming album and the artwork looks fine)

Image Image
It's a shame because these two are some of the best Symphonic Black Metal albums I've ever heard.

Image
I really really like this one too. Maybe is not Symphonic Black but I don't care, still awesome.

Image
And finally this one. ...and Oceans is one of my favorite bands but this album is just awful! the artwork is horrible and the music is just bad and boring.

God, that list is balls. We're seriously gonna exclude all of the Megadeth records he did but include the Gruesome cover, or this one?

Outside of the classic Repka stuff, I feel like his art is at it's best when he isn't doing the stereotypical stuff of him. A dude in a suit or a zombie standing in front of a ruined city. Do people ask him for this shit or is it just all he can do? The Possessed and Vio-Lence covers really stand out in that list.

Man that Ed Repka list is atrocious. I think almost every cover I saw on that was awful. A lot of his artwork is too gaudy, his artwork always ends up looking like a colorful turd. The overly cartoonist looking characters don't help either. The only good artwork that was on that list was Atheist (probably because it doesn't look like a Repka piece), Solstice, Megadeth and Possessed (again, because it doesn't really look like your standard Repka cover).

You know, I've always liked this album cover for some reason. It's very choppy, but something just makes it good anyhow. I guess it reminds me of mid 90s PC game graphics. The composition of the artwork is pretty good, too, even though the lighting is off.

I would humbly like to draw your attention to the baby, the Pharaoh's face, the 3D and placement of the logo, the placement of the title, and that's my top 5 most obvious art crimes... :p

Chronosphere - Embracing Oblivion

WTF is happening on the cover?!?! Okay, rich demonic guy has cables connected to him. Men on the front are... Feeling primal?

I think that's actually a pretty cool cover. At least in the metal world.

That just looks like an average day at the local Wal-Mart to me. Not sure why they deemed it worthy to put on an album cover.

Outta here! Obviously it isn't the classic of the original artwork, making it redundant anyway, but I think that's an aesthetic and fitting cover. Better than a hell of a lot of reissues anyway!

More in the WTF category. It's not bad artwork per se, it just makes no sense. What is it licking? Why does it have watermelons for tits? Why is there a keyhole in it's crotch? WHAT IS IT?

The depth perception is so off that it makes everything in the art just confusing to look at.

the depth perception is fine. you just lack the right vision to see it. you need atlantic vision to appreciate it :p
