New releases from bands Fate Gear, Bridear, Mary's Blood, TRICKBOOK, SOUNDWITCH, Amiliyah. I definitely like this spring.

Has anyone heard the Ibuki new album? Is this similar to previous projects? I ask the question because she performs Disqualia songs at concerts.

Thanks to a very personal source, I was able to get the venue-only Concerto Moon CD and DVD ordered. I also got a shirt of the latest album. What a great month so far.

I stopped listening to Fate Gear in 2015, right after they released their first album. Didn't notice they had two others!
New Mary's Blood us surprisingly good.

SOUNDWITCH needs to be on my radar now, Romanesque is amazing.

I just discovered Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, anyone else a fan of theirs?

Latest Fate Gear is probably their best (despite the recycled material). SoundWitch aren't bad - they remind me a bit of Head Phones President, but with heavy electronic elements.

May/June are pretty busy for me - July seems pretty vacant though.

Yeah I like 'em a lot. Of all the bands that have tried the mad-circus aesthetic I think ICDD do it by far the best.

Band Asura suddenly started playing metal

The most surprising thing is that they started to play not industrial metal, but speed/power metal.

I didn't know that was a thing that was happening, actually. I dig me some Lovebites--they're Diet Mary's Blood, and that's high praise.

AND GODDAMMIT VICTOR LET ME WATCH THE THING

Are you sure about that? Calling any band "diet" or "-lite" is highly pejorative. Lovebites is more aggressive than Mary's Blood anyway.

So it turns out that Lovebites EP is pretty tasteless and bland...except for the closer "Under the Red Sky," which is probably the best song they've released thus far, holy shit that song is amazing.

Sure thing! Aside from the incredible "Under the Red Sky," it's a huge step down from last year's album. ;3

Sigh just announced a new album with one of the funniest announcements ever.

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 7550909275

Sigh's new album "Heir to Despair" should be out some time later this year. We have submitted it to the label so all we can do now is just to wait. And don't forget to keep your expectations as low as possible. Some people outside of the bands have listened to the album but NONE of them said a single word of compliment. Seriously nobody is going to like it. I mean it.

New Sigh is always welcome. Only recently been checking out their discography.

The other day they updated their Facebook again:
Quote:
I don't want you to get me wrong. I don't like "Graveward" and "Graveward" sucked. But as for "Heir to Despair", I like this album but probably I'll be the only one in the world that likes it. I am sure everybody that has been involved with the album including the band members is baffled at it. They don't openly say so, but I can tell that. And it has nothing to do with marketing.

its getting funnier & funnier

Now Mirai is making polls pitting albums against each other to find out which album is most hated. Some PR company should really give him a job cause it works haha.
Personally cant wait...

Thought you oughta know that if you don't support your bands by buying one of their CDs or going to their shows, then you're just a parasitic, thieving scum.

Pre-ordering a $40 CD from a B-tier band after a lineup change is the height of idiocy, though.

B-tier is like what? 80-90%? That's pretty darn good. You can listen to both the new MV as well as the album trailer to make up your mind. It's not like you're going in blind here. I preordered and received my copy of that album and I'm quite happy with it. It's a shame we live in a world where people feel entitled to everything and stuff always leaks. It devalues the hard work the band puts in. Bands that release quality work like Mardelas deserve sales not pirates.

P.S. ¥3240 is like 30 USD.

People like Zelkiiro are the posterchild for everything wrong with music: over-opinionated, entitled parasites with terrible taste in music who do nothing but bitch and whine. I don't even like posting in this thread anymore due to idiots like him and Hyungnim.

And that Mardelas was released over a month ago - old news. :P

So, is anyone here waiting for Volcano's new album Darker than Black? While it's good to see them release new stuff every year (after all, they already had two extended breaks), I thought that Juggernaut and Leviathan were underwhelming - they're not bad, but not much stood out after repeated listens.

The band released a teaser a while ago, and it sounds like DtB could be a step up.

Should we tell him that bands make basically zero money from album sales, and that their money comes entirely from touring? Or should we let him find out on his own?

Maybe in the U.S. but in Japan they still buy CDs and don't steal music. Or have you not seen virtually every Japanese band posing by a CD rack of their new CD in Tower Records?

It's nice to know that you have no idea how the music industry in Japan works. Bands on major labels (like Mardelas) are often actually paid a salary by the label. Obviously, buying their CDs helps keep their label afloat and in turn helps keep the band members employed. For example, Ningen-Isu recently got popular enough for Suzuki to finally quit his dayjob (one that he's had for like 20 years) and focus fully on the band. If all Ningen-Isu fans were like you, their chart positions would still be abysmal and they'd all still be working dayjobs somewhere. Mardelas has a pretty solid following otherwise they wouldn't be on King Records in the first place. While live shows are definitely a big source of income, it's not exactly easy to buy a ticket and take a flight to Japan and show up at a show (although some people do have the luxury to do this). The simplest thing to do is buy their CDs and merch.

Anyways, it's nice to see you try to justify your parasite/entitled attitude. Probably because you have some kind of delusion about "sticking it to the man" or whatever. Get a job, save some money, and support the bands you like financially. It's not much to ask.

Okay, I'll bite. The Japanese music industry is a cannibalistic hellhole for 95% of bands, even worse than many other countries. It's insanely hard to stay afloat without both album sales and people seeing their shows, not just one or the other. Why do you think the Japanese bands are trying to crank out as much material as they are these days? Either you churn out decent or better albums at a solid pace and support them with as many gigs and promotions as you can land, or you'd better call it quits. The overwhelming majority of Japanese musicians, and especially metal musicians, are working day jobs just to keep their music dream alive, even a bunch of the big names are in this boat. I'm a proponent of downloading if something is a bunch of years out of print and costs an arm to buy, but why advocate and spread screwing over struggling bands, because some bum leaked their shiny new album online? At least get a grasp of how that particular scene works yourself before calling people out for disagreeing with you.

If they're a "B-tier" band, why are you bothering to listen to them anyway?

If you advocate downloading a leaked album because the band makes "all of their money from touring," did you ever stop to think why that might be? You know, because people (like you) are stealing their music?

Also, with prices like that, are you ordering from Kupiku-com? Maybe you should do some more research because Mardelas III did not cost that much on pre-order.

All I'm seeing from your posts is an attempt to justify piracy, which is a cheap, shallow thing to do to any musician working their asses off.

Metal musicians in Japan have it harder than the norm, because they have to self-finance this stuff. Major labels only care about J-pop and idol crap, leaving out much of the organic talent out in the cold.

Anyway, this thread has been rendered obsolete for years. For anyone who is interested, we've moved on and built a new home under the name of Japanese Metal Forum. There, we can discuss news and articles in greater detail. This thread was a nice stepping stone for our community's growth, but the real fun is over there now. No pirates allowed.

Then maybe they should change how the business works from the inside out? You guys sound way too much like anti-pirates in the anime scene, screaming "You shouldn't pirate anime! Don't you know how fucked up the industry is right now? If you don't shell out $400 for the Fate/Zero blu-rays (actual import price, by the way), YOU'RE KILLING ANIME!!"

Translation: "I don't like the way the industry is run, but I'm entitled to consume their products for free anyway."

Thankfully, Japanese music fans don't think like you or else fantastic bands like Ningen-Isu would have had to call it quits like 20 years ago.

You talk like it's $400 bucks for almost no content. It's 13 discs, which is a rough average of $30 a disc (the first edition is like $20 a disc). About the normal going rate for literally any full season of any blu-ray show from any country. Also, you're exaggerating again, because there's copies of both boxed sets available right now for under $300 combined which brings the disc value to like $22 per.

Comparing the anime scene and music scene there is comparing apples and oranges. Most of the anime studios are multi-million dollar companies with pretty big budgets and a large staff, cashing in and making a profit in most instances. The Japanese music scene, and again the metal scene in particular is for the vast majority independent bands, or bands on tiny no-name labels battling for years to break even on top of day jobs in hopes of continuing to play music and maybe even work said day job just a little bit less. It's absolutely nothing like the anime industry.

I'm not telling you not to pirate, you're a 30 year old man, you can do whatever you please. The only reason anyone said anything in the first place is you reviving this burning mess of a thread again and basically going "hey guys this shiny new album was posted online, download away".

In a recent interview Gezol of Sabbat said that they release so much live material because they don't have the funds to record a new album. I'd be hesitant to attribute that all (or primarily) to piracy, but who knows.

I was under the impression most sensible people at least operated by the adage "try before you buy." Apparently not.

In that case, food should be free. I mean, why not? How are you supposed to know if it's going to be good, and what if the samples provided at the grocery store aren't of any interest? Asking to give samples of a certain product on that same day (or any day) isn't going to make things any different. Anyway, with food being free, why should we ever have to pay for something so necessary for survival, right? Maybe it's because the people who took their time to farm, produce, package, and deliver to stores should get something of value in return...or maybe not, because you can't argue with an empty stomach.

You argue from the perspective of a petulant, needy child. Such thieving scum are why I don't bother uploading rips of demos and other rare stuff anymore, because all that hard work is taken for granted.

Don't worry. Pirates aren't welcomed at Japanese Metal Forum. If I see any worthless leecher, their ass is getting it.

Japanese Metal Forum is going forward with lots of cool features, thus doing so much better than this crap thread, which is just for Zelkiiro and Hyungnim to spam their worthless "opinions" in. It'd be great to see this thread finally locked, because the rest moved on, yet the aforementioned are completely oblivious. It's hilariously pathetic.
