I could pick nearly any Blazebirth Hall album but Branikald - Kveldulv is my favorite. There's something incredibly entrancing about the colors and the art style. The best Branikald covers mesh perfectly with the music; it feels like you're swept up in some kind of mystical storm.

Le Grand Guignol's The Great Maddening. The cover is enchanting and mystical just like the album!

It's very simple yet I find it really iconic and it fits the music perfectly. I think I like this new version better than the original.

Hey guys, how about when you post some artwork with indecipherable logos or no logos at all, you do everyone a favor and just tell us what the band and album are so that we don't have to ask? I know it's nice having people ask you about the things you like, but c'mon.

I've been listening to this tons lately: Aorlhac's "L'esprit des vents." Great album, full of fullbore French BM with hints of folkiness, plus some sort of Swedish-sounding melodics, plus plenty of Taake. I'm not huge on how the logo doesn't really blend very well with the rest of the image (I would prefer it to look much flatter and less shiny/3D looking) but the actual cover painting is gorgeous.

Spoiler: show

Plenty of Taake? Now I'm very curious. Post-Nattestid era? Cause if so, I quickly lost my interest, haha. Great cover art indeed.
Ilmestys also has some great as, especially on their 2012 demo. To me, this looks like a possession/witch vibe.

Wow this is indeed iconic... perfect, looks like a a medieval tapestry hanging in a war room, love how they've simplified the original to great effect. Little things like the border are a nice touch.

Imperium Dekadenz - Dämmerung der Szenarien

Takes the grim 2nd wave style and adds a bit of subtle artistic flair with the central illumination of the rider.

^ Man, that is a really great choice. There are essentially an unlimited number of foresty painted/drawn black metal album covers out there, but that one is really something special. The geology of the mountains there reminds me a lot of Chinese literati ink wash paintings, but the desolate dead trees and haunted clouds make it something else, and rarely do band logos fit into artwork so well.

I love the sepia color as it adds this late autumn feel to it. It looks as if it smells of rotting leaves and grave smoke. Also, one of my favorite logos ever to boot

The creepy castle like building in the desolate area, thin fog, and what seems like a lake, or woodland.
Kinda get a swedish feeling from it.

Posted a couple yesterday, but realized they were already posted so I decided to dig up a few more obscure ones.

Lutomysl - Self Titled. Amazing album with simple, sleek and stylish art. It looks a little darker than usual in this pic, I also have a shirt of this.
Image

Old Wainds - Nordraum. This album is the shit, their logo is one of my favorites, this weird icy half creature, half mountain landscape is frozen and mysterious.
Image

Azaghal - Luciferin Valo. Azaghal seems to alternate between super cool art, and minimal "here's our logo" covers. I was gonna pick Nemesis (or the new album) but I just looked at this one again.

The seven torch-bearers went there to pick up their 8th member. Afterwards, they headed to the cave in the mountains. Most torches had died down by the time they arrived there.
It still made for another great picture, namely Avslut's "Deceptis" cover artwork.

Although it doesn't seem special at all to begin with: I love the vibe. The minimalism of it. The black metal itself is primitive, raw but atmospheric, in the vein of Burzum and Paysage d'Hiver.

Hey everyone! My God so many great covers here!

Here is one of my favourites. Abruptum-Obscuritatem Advoco Amplectére Me

Image

I really like the soothing eeeeeevvill feeling of the demonic lady kissing the skull. And of course the music goes hand-to-hand with the cover. In one word : AESTHETIC

This ones my favorite, by far. You can almost smell the scent of rain when listening to this album and staring at this cover. On a personal level, this also reminds me of every time I ever walked in the rain while listening to it. It's such a beautiful album, Dimmu really did outdo themselves early on.

There's quite a bit of album covers I want to post, I'll start with this one (apologies in advance if it was already posted).

Spoiler: show

For me, this cover just reeks of the most absolute evil this world has to offer. The disgusting but somber face of what i can only imagine is satan, embracing the earth into his wings.

Also this one.

I prefer the straight photographed artworks instead of vast pictures or drawings. Really like the overall mysticism and the feeling of sacrament or something like that.

Of all the nowadays-unaffordably-rare records I ever owned, I miss this the most:

https://www.metal-archives.com/images/4 ... 1.jpg?5002

Would want to have it again for that stunning cover image. The record sleeve itself would do it.
Anyone?

This is probably a weird submission but...

Tulus - Pure Black Energy

I really like it because its both cheesy and creepy. The muted color palette really works for me and I don't think it would've been as effective if it was black-and-white instead.

Love how the artwork has an old Germanic fairy tale feel ala the Grimm brothers. It look's innocent on the first glance but then you spot the reaper in the tree and the black birds? surrounding the frame. It just has a morbidly beautiful quality to it.

Ungfell - Mythen, Mären, Pestilenz

I love the somewhat minimalist design with the black-on-beige color scheme. Like my favorite BM artworks, its steeped in rich and evocative folk imagery. And yea, that "Where Fear is Born" cover is hot, Alexi Laiho-approved garbage.
