Admit it, you're looking up this band on bandcamp right now. The cover is just that classy. The music is suitably atmospheric.

Purists may balk, but I prefer the new artwork Peaceville used for the reissues of these Darkthrone albums:

This is my favorite thread on this website. I will attempt to add to it instead of just gushing.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but I like this a lot:

Of course Necrolord's artwork has been mentioned so I'm going to go with another one I like: Teitan Arts. My favorite work of his is on Cult of Fire's 2nd album.
Spoiler: show

But it's not just the cover art. The inside artwork is amazing too (but I'm not sure if Teitan Arts was involved with its making)

Everything about this artwork is perfect. I am crazy for everythin about castles and the whole ''vampyric'' theme.
Also gived a feeling to old videogames, I kne the art is actually from a game back in the 80's.

Represents the music perfectly, cold and isolated.
Just amazing.

Whoa.

I like that Necromantia cover art a lot.

I now see from the real interesting website narsilianshard linked to (https://artplagiarism.wordpress.com/) in the album art doppleganger thread that this was stolen from a D&D guide.

My all time favorite black metal artwork.

When I see this art while listening to the album all I can think of is A Castle of Vampires.
Also a Person riding a black horse rushing to the castle.

The blue hue also gives it a super cool vibe.

The first 30 seconds of the opening track, Unleashed Axe Age blends in sooooo well with the cover, like you can just picture the blue fog rising, cold atmosphere, windy, beyond perfect music to blend in, Love it.

Surprised that it took so many pages for any of Antichrist Kramer's Inquisition covers to get posted (and that the only one anyone's posted was Ominous Doctrines), they've always impressed me greatly.

Anyways, now that I've got Inquisition on the brain, here's the breathtaking cover of their not-so-breathtaking latest album, Bloodshed...:

Nothing screams "wicked" more than this one, plus, the color palette and art composition make for a very pleasing looking piece.

The following albums O Senhor de Tudo and Decrepitude e Sabedoria follow the same cover concept, which is very interesting, like the sequence of 'Abigail' and 'Abigail 2 ' ,by instance. 'Decrepitude..' its less misanthropic , but more satanic in the lyrical content.

I love the combinaison with sad colors painting, country-style thematic and band logo. Nice atmosphere.

As a not big BM fan, i have to admit there is a lot of good artworks (especially in Ambient Black).

A couple French album covers that I really dig.

Peste Noire - Folkfuck Folie. I intend to get this album art as my next tattoo. I love the medieval woodcut type stuff and there is something about the bird in a suit that says "HIV" holding a syringe that is interesting to me haha.

Autarcie - S.I.D.A. I just like this one because of how the band logo and the album art seem to fit together.

Apart from all the usual suspects from the second wave (most of which are classic), this has to be one of my all time favourites for an album cover. That being Myrkr's Black Illumination.

Image

The sheer amount of mystery and darkness it conjures is as brilliant as the art itself, though you really need to see the whole thing, as it opens out in the booklet;

Image

In fact, I like it that much, that it is now tattooed on my right arm. It also happens to be one my absolute top black metal album picks.

It was a toss up for me between the S.I.D.A. album and Horizons Funestes album which I also love the cover of.

On a side note, is it just me or is there an unspoken rule that blue themed album covers with castles on them tend to be really good albums in general? Stuff like Emperor's In the Nightside Eclipse, Morbid's December Moon, King Diamond's Voodoo (technically a mansion and not a castle), and other albums with similar covers.

The melancholy of the Northern Lights, the atmosphere complements the music perfectly. What an album, with great album art.
