Been hearing to it constantly. Definitely my top 3 in their discography. And AOTY easily unless Keldian's new album is as good or better than this.

I doubt it. I love Keldian but they can't touch Threshold IMO. Their last one wasn't impressive except for 3 songs. The first two are wonderful, tho.

Just finished CD 2, been listening to CD 1 for weeks. My favorite tracks are "Snowblind" and "Trust the Process" (especially the former). The rest is also very good (at worst), but it might take me some time to digest properly these two 10+ minute songs, much like the whole record because there are many things going on. One thing I can say with certainty now - even after this monster double album, they have yet to put out a bad record. An incredible band.

Anyone else still listening to this on the regular over a year since it came out?? What an amazing album. I still can't decide if I like it more than March of Progress or Dead Reckoning though...

Yes. Great album. Some of those choruses are still running a constant rotation in my head. I think I’ll be listening to this one for a while. Snowbound is particularly strong.

Seems like everyone I talk to about the album has a different favorite, which is awesome. Shows the true talent these guys have. I personally can't get enough of The Shire pt 2, Subliminal Freeways, Superior Machine and Lost in Translation. I am seeing them perform the whole album in London a little over a week from now. I am very excited...my first time seeing them.

For the Journey is still my favorite, but this comes close and is easily the heaviest and most energized I've heard them sound. The singer on this one is so great too.

This is constantly in my rotation too since release. Been a fan since 2005 and even with my usual bias of nostalgia, this is still their best work to date.

For the Journey is close though - for me, this past year has been like getting two Threshold albums, seeing as I kind of slept on FtJ at the time of its release. Lighter, less catchy and more demanding of your attention, but top class work once I really sat down and soaked it in.

It really is a good album, and pretty under rated. It ranks lower on my list for whatever reason. It seems a bit shorter as a whole than what I am used to from Threshold. But it does have Siren Sky and Unforgiven which are great tracks. Do you like like Dead Reckoning or any albums with Mac? Dead Reckoning has to be one of the best progressive metal albums I've ever heard (along with MOP and Legends!). I mean every song is a stand out and the choruses are insane. Hollow, One Degree Down, Fighting for Breath etc....what unbelievable performances!

The fact that it's shorter is what works for me. It's got no filler and every song feels like a piece of a complete puzzle.

The Mac era has a lot of good stuff, particularly Subsurface and Dead Reckoning. I wasn't totally obsessed with them until For the Journey though. They've really gotten better and better over time. But their old work tends to grow on you; it's more complex than it initially seems.

I am still flabbergasted that my least favorite vocalist the band's ever had was responsible for my absolute favorite album they've ever put out. Legends of the Shires is still fucking incredible.

Subliminal Freeways is such a unique song. Lost in Translation is also one of the best tracks for me as well. Just such a tight professional band performing great songs.

Well I live in Utah and I just got back from London two days ago. I flew over to watch these guys headline at The Dome. It was pretty awesome seeing them play live as I honestly have no idea when/if I'll ever get to see them again. They have no touring plans to come to the USA...they just mainly focus on Europe due to fanbase, busy schedules etc. But the show was really good. By chance, was anyone posting in this thread at the show?

They are playing at ProgPower USA next year!

And now begins my journey of discovering this band's music.

I see that I made a post about this album in 2017 when it came out that I have no recollection of making, nor do I have any memory of listening to this album.

Anyway, It's 2023 and I love this album.

I could listen to "Stars and Satellites" for the rest of my life on repeat.

Flew all the way to London to see them!

My shit is jealous.

You should check out Headspace, English prog rock/metal band. It features Damian Wilson, and not only because of that, feels like Threshold, but only more bouncy/math at times. It's not math-metal or something like that, no, but definitely some quirky rhythms in their music. The band also features Alan Wakeman, the son of Rick, who plays, you know, keys!

For those interested, Richard West just released a sort of a sequel to Legends of the Shires under the Oblivion Protocol moniker. Album is called Fall of the Shires released by Atomic Fire.
