http://teamrock.com/news/2017-07-14/watch-thresholds-epic-lost-in-translation-video "Threshold have released a video for their epic 10-minute track Lost In Translation exclusively with Prog. The song features on the band’s upcoming album Legends Of The Shires which is set to arrive on September 8 via Nuclear Blast. Keyboardist Richard West tells Prog: “We've made a monster of an album so we thought we should release a monster of a single! “This epic really showcases the many sides of our sound and is a great prelude to our album release.” Legends Of The Shires will be the band's 11th studio album and their first ever double album. It also features Glynn Morgan back on vocal duties for the first time since 1996 after he replaced Damian Wilson earlier this year. The cover for Legends Of The Shires was created by Russian artist Elena Dudina – and Threshold are delighted at the results. West says: “I love it when a cover tells you what sort of record you're buying. This one really shouts ‘progressive’ and reminds me of some of the classic prog albums from the 20th century.”" |

Very good as usual, well done prog. Weird that they keep going further and further back with the old singers they've had. They couldn't avoid the Mac McDermott thing, but I'm curious what happened with Wilson - I was really enjoying his vocals. For the Journey was my favorite album from these guys yet. |

Good stuff. Threshold has always put out good material out there regardless of who's on vocals IMO. With that said, March of Progress and For the Journey are my favorite albums by these guys. I read an interview with Wilson after his departure, but he didn't say much, but gave the impression it was not his decision to leave. |

Hmm... I really love Damian Wilson's voice, and compared to him this guy just sounds pedestrian. And what's worse, he sounds a bit like Damian, same sort of tone but so much less personality, so I just keep hearing in my head how great this would have been with Damian. They should have gone for a completely different voice. Mac and Damian sounded nothing alike, and that worked out great. |

Huh, well it's tough to tell what goes on behind the scenes, but that's bizarre if Wilson recorded the vocals for this entire album and then they kicked him out and re-recorded it. Very odd. And yeah this Glynn Morgan guy is OK but clearly worse than their previous two vocalists. |

First half was good but I lost interest with the 2342 minute "interlude" in the middle. Nice production though. I do miss Wilson like the others have said. He has a very unique approach that fit this band perfectly. |

I thought the song was great, but I do agree that Damian brought something great and unique to the table, just like Mac did, that fit the band perfectly, despite the two of them sounding pretty different. Glynn sounds more generic. Don't get me wrong, he's by no means a bad vocalist, but his voice lacks that unique character. Other than that, business as usual for Threshold, they haven't missed a step with this one. It'll be interesting to hear the rest of the album. My bet is Threshold will pull off a double album significantly better than Dream Theater did. |

As expected from Threshold, this is fantastic. I think it has a proggier and more organic feel than the past couple of albums. Also have to disagree on the general consensus about Glynn. He sounds great here. He actually does sound a fair bit like Damien but he has that little edge that reminds me of Mac at times. Psychedelicatessen was a monster of an album and I'm sure this new one is going to be very interesting too. It's too bad about the band letting Damian go though, as he is indeed a great singer himself but if there was going to be a replacement, I'm glad that they chose Glynn. He's a good fit. No one will ever be able to replace Mac in my eyes though. |

This particular song didn't do much for me, but Threshold have always swung wildly between "didn't like this song much" and "LOOP THAT SHIT FOR HOURS" on every album, so I remain hopeful. |

I've always thought Damian Wilson was the perfect match for this band, so I was upset when I heard they parted ways. New track sounds good though, so I'm looking forward to the full release. |

Hey, this is fucking rocking out. Actually way heavier and more upbeat than their last few albums... interesting to hear them going in this direction. Morgan sounds better here too than on the other song. |

Definitely different direction from the last two with Wilson, but I think it is a good thing. His voice suits this style better, so hopefully this is a good representation of what the album will be like. |

Sounds good, until the chorus. Threshold always had big, sing-along choruses, but this one's just vapid. Oh well, time to go put on Turn On, Tune In or something and remember when this band was good. |

That sounded like standard Threshold-single fare (and some parts sound very similar to "Ashes" at times), except a bit less inspired. Morgan sounds good, but the song is mediocre for the band's standards. However, it is clearly the single, so I will let that pass. But I expect better. |

New song kicks ass like this band always has, really felt the video accompanied it quite nicely too. Even with the thrashy riffs, it's maybe the poppiest single they've ever done. But I've always loved both their accessible and their more progressive stuff anyway and this song is the band being 100% themselves for sure. Glynn Morgan has a less unique voice than Mac or Damian for sure, but works great here anyway. |

I dig how they've always been able to keep such a core, rock-solid sound, with signature tropes and touchstones, despite all their different singers and the differing styles - more erudite, dense prog in the old days, then the direct heavy metal stylings of Dead Reckoning and the mellow Rush-type stuff of their last two, and now this. Very cool - the mark of a good band. |

OK I am super excited for this release. It sounds much more like MOP than FTJ. I love FTJ but it was a slight departure from MOP, which I think is absolutely brilliant. The new single sounds fucking killer, and I've recently become addicted to the first single Lost in Translation after being slightly underwhelmed the first time I heard it. Love this band. They're classy, almost sounding like a heavier version of U2 when they were ambitious. |

Glynn sounds fantastic. All of their singers have always been top notch and to me, that makes all the difference in the world. Threshold always keep that distinct sound and I myself prefer their ventures into longer progressive song structures. That latest one, although not proggy at all, does pack a lot of punch. |

This album is a beast!!! I think Glynn coming back was the right move. IMO, Damian's vocals wouldn't have fit. Don't get me wrong, I love March of Progress and For the Journey, but Glynn's the right voice for this album. The songs are melodic and get pretty heavy at times. This could be my album of the year. Such a good year so far for prog metal. |

Well, I want to say that I am so happy right now. The new Threshold album is special. I mean that sincerely, too, and not just in an excited hyperbolic fanboy way. For me personally, it's just one of those albums where everything comes together perfectly. I feel like this is the culmination of the band's entire history and contains the best of everything they have to offer - it has their best, most cohesive songwriting, it has amazing production value, the guitars soar, the melodies are at times breathtaking and the vocals are gorgeous. I was a huge Wilson fan like many others here, and I was worried about this album without him. I can honestly say that after a few more listens I wouldn't be surprised if I actually prefer Glynn - his voice isn't a smooth as W, but he has that "edge" that provides a balance between ethereal and grit that is so essential to a band like Threshold (Mac had this sort of voice too). This is already in my top 3 albums this year and I can't see it not being number one. There are so many reasons to keep going back to this monster - little discoveries like subtle keyboard melodies, vocal hooks, solos etc. It's just a masterful example of classy, mature progressive heavy metal that unequivocally solidifies the band's legacy in whatever genre you want to place them in. 10/10. |

Wow, I'd never heard this band before (although I've heard of them a lot), and so far I'm pretty blown away. This is exactly the kind of music I've been wanting lately. I'm trying not to spend money, but damn, these guys are tempting my resolve. |

Glad to hear positive stuff about this album. I'm going to order it soon - though with the hurricane bearing down on my state, may be a while before I get it in CD form. For the Journey was their best yet and maybe this could even top that one. |

This whole album flows so well and doesn't feel like an hour and 20+ minutes. So we'll done IMO. |

It's way better than For the Journey, which I think is definitely solid (Siren Sky is one of their best songs/melodies), but nowhere near other albums they've done. Just get it, you're guaranteed to really like it if you're a Threshold fan. |

On my second listen now. "Trust the Process" is pretty awesome. "Snowblind" is absolutely fucking incredible - a great riff-fest of a tune. "Superior Machine" is a hyper-catchy song. Glynn Morgan doesn't add the atmosphere that Damian Wilson's voice did... but he is a great singer and adds some aggression and muscular power that was lacking in the last few. I find this an overall more upbeat and bombastic work than their last several. This comes off as a more confident and involved sound than some of their previous ones. They have really honed their sound to a fine blade. |

I have followed Threshold since the debut, but lost a little interest when Mac joined the band although I still bought the albums. Well, I have never been as impressed with a Threshold-album as I am with Legends of the Shire. I simply love the vocals of Glynn Morgan, and tracks like The Shire (part 2), Trust the Process (reminds me a bit of Conception), Small Dark Lines ard State of Independence are all among the best they have ever written. Right now this one is even stronger than the first three albums. |

First spin and I'm not the biggest fan. There is no instant highlight (the closest to that is probably "Snowblind"), but there are quite a few ones I didn't care for much ("The Man Who Saw Through Time" seemed just boring, same thing for "Stars and Satellites"). The vocals are fine, no issues there. The issue, however, is that while I agree that having their own sound/style is fine, this album seems a tad unimaginative, especially given the length of the thing. Could it be the loss of Morten, who actually wrote my favorite songs on the past two albums ("Siren Sky" and "Coda")? I don't know. However, it might be a bit of a grower, just like For The Journey. It's Threshold, of course it's not bad, but I think my expectations were a bit too high after the last two. |

it's been growing on me - still like For the Journey better, but this is full of excellent shit. "The Man Who Saw Through Time" is all about the build and Glynn Morgan's fucking powerful vocals, and "Stars and Satellites" has some great melodies. "Subliminal Freeways" is quite good as a mellow poppy number and "The Shire Part II" is lovely. Only one that I still think is a bit weaker is "On the Edge" - it doesn't quite work. "Trust the Process" has probably become my favorite on here. What a powerhouse. |
