That was quite good. Better than the last one. "Man the Machine" is pretty bad ass too.

I can definitely see this being a solid 75% album I'll enjoy alright.

I think someone looked at the BUDGET, then the art, and said, "Yeah, that'll do."

Quite a good song! This is looking to be a fine album.

Do you think this band at this point ever throws away a riff or a song and says "nah, this isn't good enough". I can forget this material as soon as I hear it ... and this is the opening track!

What the fuck is this band even doing, anymore?

That song is just so faceless and bland and forced. Where are the compelling melodies? The hooks? The riffs? I mean, I get that Queensryche was never a particularly riff-heavy band, but they were never so fucking lazy with it as they seem now - and what's worse, the production puts the generic-ass drudgery of the rhythm guitars right there at the front.

Finished up my first listen. The whole thing is pretty much a more metallic version of the stuff they did in the late 90s. It doesn't suck but still very much Your Mileage May Vary.

Seeing 'em next weekend, though I am really going for Fates. I'm not even sure I want to listen to this or stay through all of QR's set.

I wish the album was more of this:

Blood of the Levant was decidedly average, I wouldn't even consider buying an album for that track. daft, low budget video too, however well-intended. crap guitar solo.

bit impressed by the drums, if they were played through and in real time...

Maybe it is because my expectations for this weren't high, but I'm actually really impressed. These songs are a lot of fun and thankfully they kept the album to under 45 minutes instead of adding in a few more songs for filler. Much better than Condition Human in my opinion.

Yeah I have to admit it's growing on me - maybe not an A+ album but it's no-bullshit and has some pretty tight songwriting. Only flaw I can see is that the hooks never really hit greatness; they could be more exuberant, more visceral, etc. But for a band that has gone through so much bullshit this is solid.

edit: I'm actually digging it this time. Quite good if you can get into its somewhat murky, gloomy vibes - it's an album all about the morose, contemplative atmosphere and sleek guitar/vocal combos.

I WAS WRONG

I have to admit that I may have misjudged the Todd era of this band.

I saw them live last night and was BLOWN AWAY. Now I know this was a pro band and that Todd was a very capable singer, but I did not expect to enjoy any of the newer songs. And yet I did. I especially remember that the title track to Condition Human sounded really good live.

NM156 and Queen of the Ryche were worth the long drive, price of admission, and freezing cold venue alone.

It's nice to see Michael Wilton now as THE lead guitarist now. He is really stepping up and playing all the solos now, including all the ones that DeGarmo used to play. Reminds me of how Caffery became a very capable soloist after Skolnick left Savatage.

I'm VERY glad that I caught this show and will definitely catch them live again. Most surprisingly, this will force me to give the Todd albums another spin or two with a more open mind.

I saw them in Orlando last week. They were really good as a band and a lot of the songs off the new album sounded great live and made me give the new album a second try. Todd's also very good live, yeah.

I still thought the Condition Human tracks were the weak points of the set though - just a bit dull for me I guess. New stuff sounds more tight and intricate.
