Why is Mats in promo shots for the album?

Guessing that's just an old photo, and whoever published that promo (is that from a magazine?) didn't have access to anything newer.

Did anyone else find Astorolus so damn similar to Copernicus?

Or is it just me?

This new song sounds fantastic but man am I getting some serious King of the Grey Islands flashbacks. So is this whole album just gonna a Lowe-era album with no Lowe in it?

I think that "era" starts with the s/t album when Messiah returned....and yep, these two songs sound right out of that chapter in their book.

I wager that it actually started with the first Krux album. It's really not that different from the style that Candlemass has been peddling since their comeback. The similarities were even more blatant on the EPs that Mars sings on.

Seems they only impact me with Robert Lowe...

Currently streaming in full on Kerrang. Gonna have to listen after my lunch break.

EDIT: Well, I was right. This is exactly what I assumed it would sound like right down to imagining Robert Lowe singing on it.

The album is decent, but half the time it seems like I'm hearing the chorus riff from Copernicus. The final song is a banger though.

Same old, same old. Never awful, never great. Same as it has been since the mid-00's with everything Edling touches.

Should have called it "The Basics of Doom" or "Doom 101" instead....

I really like the version of House of doom with Johan on vocals. He is just a better fit for the band than Mats. More emotion somehow. Sorry Mats :/.

I quite liked it. The opener, "Astorolus," and "House of Doom" are the highlights for me. Sometimes, you just need a good old-fashioned slab of doom.
