Dis Pater presents a sample of the new Midnight Odyssey album, called Biolume. This album will be the first in a trilogy of albums exploring the themes of banishment and exile, of fallen gods and resentment, of sacrifice and despair. A representation of things that have been taken from us, and the desire to return to a previous embodiment or form.

This is the unmastered version of the first track titled Hidden in Tartarus. Biolume will release later this year on I, Voidhanger Records.

The track sounds fine, tehcnically is the same he has done so far but I have no big complains about it.

If Dis Pater repeats the very same formula he perfected on his previous albums, I'll pass.
We need more music from his other band, Tempestuous Fall, though.

He's explicitly stated he laid Tempestuous Fall to rest alongside The Crevices Below with Converge, Rivers of Hell being their final release.

That being said, I'm actually unsure what other curve balls he can throw in the formula he's already presented. At the very least, I hope it's not as draggy as Shards of Silver Fade ended up being.

I hope it isn't 1000 hours long like his other albums. I dig the Midnight Odyssey vibe but good Lord... let's trim the fat.

Update posted by Dis Pater yesterday. The confirmation it won't be a double album will please some of you, but I actually enjoy mammoth albums like the last two Midnight Odyssey albums were. It really makes you feel like you experienced an epic journey by the time you get to the end of the album.

"Thank you to everyone for the great feedback for the new track, and thank you to those who have downloaded it, the fact that the music is out there is the main thing! You’ve given me the encouragement to get my arse into gear and finish this! Yes there will be an LP version, no this isn’t the album artwork, no that’s not my finger on the top left, no this won’t be a double album, but yes the albums will still be long. Thank you for the support!"

Cool to hear! I get the whole epic scale of his albums, but I rarely have time to listen to something so long uninterrupted so having an album that long doesn't do much for me.

FUCK YES! I have loved Midnight Odyssey for years and am probably one of his biggest fans.
That being said, as he continues on with the same ideas, ib beginning to think of that Tempestuous Fall album being about the most amazing thing Dis Pater ever created. Like a super gossamer epic funeral doom with violin and a bright neo-classical feel.

Another two projects that Dis Pater is involved in that no one talks about is Dissvarth and Death Comes Crawling.

Death Comes Crawling is Dis Pater going 80's darkwave. Don't expect any metal. Interesting album if you're into that type of music.

Dissvarth is basically all of the ambient/symphonic parts taken from Midnight Odyssey songs compiled into a full-length album. There are no harsh vocals or metal in this either. It's very relaxing and beautiful, just like the slower parts in Midnight Odyssey songs.

The guy is a massive Dead Can Dance fan, which is what the former of those two projects is all about. Full support to Dis Pater, he's one of my favourite artists and has produced a few absolute masterpieces (Funerals From the Astral Sphere; Converge, Rivers of Hell; The Crevices Below).

Eagerly anticipating this!
