I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I've found it a facinating sub-(sub?)-genre and occassionally very nice to listen to. This thread isn't for discussing melodeath or melo-(genre name) but specifically bands that are labeld "Melodic Heavy Metal". A prime example and my personal favorite of this categorey would be Oracle from Gibaltar.

What other bands do you feel fall under this categorey? If I had to take further guesses I'd say Pretty Maids, Speed Limit, Heavy Metal Army, Feline Melinda and Jumper Lace. Any sort of genre specifications you feel is needed for this type of heavy metal? Do you think it lacks an edge or doesn't need to be that aggressive to be considered solid metal. Any other discussions about this type of metal is allowed.

Also would you count the albums “Undercover Animal” by Steeler and “Roll the Dice” by Oz as melodic heavy metal? Undercover Animal was a bit more glamy than melodic though in my opinion.

I stumbled on these guys while researching the American band Alice N' Thunderland:

I must confess I haven't really listened to them but they got listed as Melodic Heavy Metal when they got accepted to the site.

Just checked them out they sound alright, sort of get more of the hard rock vibe but then again I just checked a few songs.

How do you all feel about Palass (that lisp though)

The lack of metal and metalheads in China is crazy. This many people, and everyone listens to pop and rap music. Overload don’t really have much local incentive for bringing the metal, but I echo your sentiment in hoping they bring out more of it. I’ve lived in China since August last year and met only one local metalhead. He stuck out like a sore thumb with his Cannibal Corpse shirt. Haha! I wasn’t positive if he was a real fan or if he just bought a random shirt, but I asked him about it and he was legit.

I lived in Chengdu China for like 5 years and just moved to Japan three weeks ago. The metal scene is hard to find for sure but I found a good QQ group for metal which I was able to start my band with, then I moved on to Wechat where I have a group for upcoming shows and general metal stuff for Chengdu. I regretfully didn't go to as many shows as I should of but I did see Anvil there, and I saw two really cool Chinese folk metal bands called Black Kirin, and Dream Spirit.
In case you are curious this was my speed metal band from China (if you want to cringe a little you could check out my other videos too lol)

In Japan I wanna start a US style power metal band.
