James Hetfield played a cop in that Ted Bundy movie (?) on Netflix. I only saw one clip, so I don't know how big his role was.

It was a small role, but pretty cool nonetheless.

In the first season of True Detective (don't remember the ep), there's a Melvins song playing at a bar.

Rather famously, there's an episode of Married...With Children centred around Anthrax.

What??? Venom’s Countess Bathory in a super mainstream super hero movie?? When does this song play during the movie and for what duration? Is it just played during the ending credits?

A scene pretty early in the movie where Nightcrawler fights Angel in a cage match in Germany and Raven/Mystique speaks abysmal German and frees Nightcrawler.

I saw Mayhem posters all over InBetweeners and I think Skins when I binge watched them this past year.

“Judas Priest is not death metal ”
“Judas Priest is not death metal ”
and the episode that caused this is titled "Steal this Episode", possibly after SOAD's album.

Slayer's "Angel of Death" features during the spider transformation in Gremlins 2

EDIT: There was also a commercial, I can't remember for what product (either a cell phone provider or fast food place), that briefly featured the opening of Manowar's "Hail and Kill" as it talked about somebody's epic van art.

There is a Hyundai ad on TV here in Australia (I think it's Hyundai?) which has Holy Diver as the soundtrack.

I lost my mind, almost bought myself a new car

And it's not just a short clip, either. It's a gunfight segment and they played ALL of AoS. It was a long segment.

That movie is a riot. It's literally a live action Loony Toons movie.

Roughly a minute-long riff from Sleep's _Dopesmoker_ shows up in the Bill Murray movie "Broken Flowers."

I've got a good one, if it hasn't been mentioned, and rather obscure as well: Metal Church's "Ton of Bricks," in a movie called No Man's Land, starring Charlie Sheen and D.B. Sweeney.

Megadeth are mentioned in a episode of The X-Men; don't know the name of the episode, but it involved witches and sacrifices in a small rural town: Mulder says to Scully something like, "better hide yr Megadeth albums."

I think "Four Horsemen" is played in an episode of Stranger Things, season 2; the lad with the Trans-Am is head playing it, I think.

Obviously Megadeth in Last Action Hero: AIC and Soundgarden in Singles.

Coover Bennett, in Justified, always wore his Accept t-shirt; not sure if the music was ever played though.

Both Metallica (Metallica lol) and Megadeth are both mentioned in a movie with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Laurence; I think it's called 'something something' ''Playbook''. A friend of the Brad's goes on about how he needs a bit of metal just so he can forget that he's married with kids, I think.

There's an excellent movie starring Frodo Baggins, called I Don't Feel at Home in this World, where he wears Saxon t-shirts - I think there's some Saxon played in that one.

Deep Purple's "Highway Star" and Sabbath's "Paranoid," (I think) in that movie, Dazed and Confused.

Any Metallica played in the movie Jumangi? The kid who disappears into the game (around '92 time) was into Metallica... He had no idea how bad they'd been for 25 years.

There was an Anvil song in the hilariously, entertainingly terrible 4th "Final Destination" movie.

if this was the sci fi forum, you'd be insta-banned for that mixup! :D

the Silver Linings is a good one. sadly, the (much funnier imo) ipod scene is butchered by whoever youtubed it:

I Don't Feel at Home in this World did not live up to what I expected it to be based on that title, but yeah, there's a lot of 80s metal in that one...

I gave up on the final destination franchise after just the 2nd one... :/

the Hemingway Larsathon is now on youtube too:

A friend of mine just sent me a phone recording of his TV, he was watching Single Parents and sent me a scene where Leighton Meester is on stage singing the lyrics for Raining Blood and then procedes to loose her shit with headbanging and air guitars. Precious! :D

I also remember Deep Purple's Child in Time featuring in the movie Twister, along with some footage of Mark III or IV Purple :/

The holy grail of Deep Purple songs, albeit Mark V, is Fire, Ice and Dynamite, a song played during the closing credits of the Feuer, Eis und Dynamit movie. I could never find it on CD.

Smoke on the Water is otherwise referenced in countless TV shows and movies. One I remember is Two and a Half Men when the kid is playing the riff on his guitar over and over again. It is usually showed as the most basic, stupid riff anyone could play, at least that's what I read in Karl Ove Knausgård "Min Kamp I".

I remember Suffocation appearing in a History Channel commercial for the Dark Ages around 10 or 11 years ago.

Cannabis Corpse is in the movie In The Loop

TJ Miller's character in the Mike Judge movie Extraction is in a Grindcore band and wears shirts from Cephalic Carnage, Exhumed, and Mastodon.

Grim Reaper composed the title track for the 1987 Troma film Lust for Freedom. The movie is a worthless puddle of shit but it has that as well as another Grim Reaper song and those were the best parts of it.

You can hear snippets of the track in the trailer.

wow, had no idea about the Grim Reaper connection... thanks! :)

looked up Alone In The Dark all hopeful, only to find it's an Uwe Boll movie with a very expected 2.3/10 on imdb so the chances of me watching it are pretty slim :D

I also watched a crap movie titled "Adolescence" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3220900/ (requiem for a dream for the instagram generation), that has two Leaf Hound tracks on it! couldn't believe it.

Opeth's song "Death Whispered A Lullaby" is featured at the end of the criminal minds episode The King Fisher pt. 1 which is the 22nd and last episode of season 1. A couple of years ago i'd decided to binge through a bit of the show and got to that episode and I was so confused by the song playing that I had to check if i'd somehow accidentally opened my music player. They replaced it with something else on the DVDs, but Netflix has the original music that aired in it. Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Pride & Joy" shows up in Season 2 as well (not metal, I know, but still a damn good song nonetheless.)

An episode of The Bold And The Beautiful (midish 90s) had Priest's Painkiller, when Ridge found out that Rick had tried to murder someone... The clip used to be on YT but I can't find it now.
