Esoctrilihum is putting out another album, titled Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath, which would be the sixth album released in the past five years. This has to be one of the most productive projects out there right now along with bands like Haunt.

Impureza will also release a new album, for which they've already unveiled the artwork. I really enjoy their technical death metal meets Spanish Flamenco sound, so I'll be keeping an eye out for this one.

Spirit Adrift already started recording a new album, which would make it three albums in three years. You can add them to the list of profilic projects in terms of output.

Could be cool...I'll admit that the last EP didn't do much to me but the last two full length albums have been killer. I could do with less bloated material though!

Peter Tagtgren just posted that the recordings for the new Hypocrisy album are complete, so we can expect that sometime in the next few months.

Also, Root are in the studio recording a new album.

New Hypocrisy album? Definitely will be looking forward to that one. First in 8 years.

Speaking of first full-length in 8 years, back in October (Or November?), Matt McGachy confirmed that the next Cryptopsy release was going to be full-length instead of EP in an Instagram video, so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Dave Carlo also said on his YouTube channel that they're almost done recording the new album, Cycle of Contempt, with just some vocal bits, solos, and guest musicians remaining, and then production. That's gonna be their first since Decibels, so I'm really looking forward to that.

^ Matt was interviewed by Riley from Allegaeon a few weeks back. I'm presuming Cryptopsy has signed with Metal Blade (which makes sense considering Oli plays bass for both them and Cattle Decapitation,) and that'll be announced when the album goes up for pre-order whenever that will be. Interesting that it's a full-length, I'm curious if this will continue/conclude "The Book of Suffering" as that was intended to be a trilogy of releases or if it'll be it's own thing separate from that.

A Cryptopsy album that sounds like The Book of Suffering II would be hugely welcomed by me. Keen to see where they take the full-length.

Kreator's new one will purportedly be a bit different and they're working with Arthur Rizk, so I'm definitely interested.

^ Working with Rizk is an optimistic sign for me they've dialed back on some of the super-anthemic singalongs that kinda took over the last two albums. Kreator's reinvention at the turn of the decade will always be a fascinating and necessary one, and in a way that sort of stands on its own. Still, it's time for them to switch it up a bit and this definitely going to help raise his profile in the process.

I haven't listened to much Kreator in a few years now but that last single they did was pretty fucking bad. Hopefully switching it up will work out for them. Rizk seems to know what he's doing.

Rizk mixed and mastered arguably the best thrash release so far this year in Enforced's Kill Grid, and obviously the experience working with Power Trip, Sacred Reich, and a number of other thrash/crossover bands (not to mention a number of bands across all metal subgenres in general) make him the most likely candidate to get something new out of Kreator soundwise.

There's a new Craven Idol record titled Forked Tongues coming in July. Those guys are one of the best blackened thrash bands around right now, so I'm hyped for new music from them.

Year of No Light just announced they've signed to Pelagic Records and are releasing a new album titled Consolamentum on July 2. They're also reissuing all of their back catalogue as part of a wooden boxset.

I don't know if anyone cares about Lordi, but they just announced they're going to be releasing seven new studio albums in October. This is basically a spin-off of the Killection compilation they released not too long ago which was supposed to be a collection of songs that Lordi would have written if they were active between the early 70s and mid-90s. Basically, these seven LPs are supposed to be the albums that those songs on the compilation came from.

I think the new Crypts of Despair album is going to be really good. It's a mix between ODSM and more dissonant death metal and I think they've managed to really nail something unique.

The new Vulture album should be pretty good, based on the first single it seems like it'll be an improvement over their last album.

Obscura posted a short video containing clips from their recording sessions for their new record. Not a whole lot to glean, but the few bits of new music does sound pretty good.

Megadeth are in the final hours of recording their new album according to Dave Ellefson, so I'd imagine it'll be out sometime in the fall/winter of this year, or possibly the late summer at the earliest.

The new track has all the quintessential Desaster hallmarks. Man I love that band.

The Flight of Sleipnir is releasing a new album titled Eventide through Prophecy Productions. They've been on a roll since Saga so I'm looking forward to what the new album has in store.

I'm really interested in the debut album by Siderean ( a new band formed by ex-members of the Slovenian band Teleport). They're another one of those bands going for a psychedelic approach to OSDM (like Morbus Chron, Sweven, Venenum, Ghastly, Bedsore etc.).

Haunter announced via their Facebook that they've signed to Profound Lore Records and currently in the middle of recording their third album. So we're getting albums from both Ghastly and Haunter this year, now we just need Gengar to complete the set.

They've also got some really promising more traditional leaning heavy metal releases still coming out this year. DVP has been a really solid label on that front for a while now.

Eisenhand is a bit of a Gotham City copycat, but White Fortress was one of my favorite new singles from this spring, so hopefully the quality will keep up on the full length coming up 28th of May.

Heavy Sentence sound like Motörhead and Thin Lizzy had a love child. Should be out on the 28th of May as well.

Venator haven't set a release date yet for the full length, but I think it should be coming out on DVP this year. Their side on the Venator/Angel Blade split was one of the highlights of 2020 for me, so expectations are high.

Woah, thank you for posting that Heavy Sentence song. I had never heard them, and I dig that a lot. The Venator stuff sounds great, too.

No problem, great to hear someone else digs their stuff as well. They've got a couple of solid EPs out on bandcamp and all the singles released for the new album have been good to great. So pretty goddamn stoked for the LP.

Probably the best thing I've heard lately.
It sounds so tasty and fresh, and they captured the '80s feel so well.
