Powerwolf, seemingly one of those hate-it-or-love-it power metal bands like Sabaton, have a new album coming out in a few months.

Preorders are up here but there's no new single yet.
I thought their last album was their strongest since "Bible of the Beast", so I'm hoping this one's good too. I doubt I'll preorder anything until I hear a single, though. There were three disappointing albums in a row before "The Sacrament of Sin" so I'm just not willing to take the risk at the moment.

I'm unreservedly excited for this - pretty much my first exposure to Powerwolf was their incredible live show at Bloodstock - they made up for all of the dreary brometal on during the day, and blew away a fairly pedestrian Sabaton (headliners). They're surprisingly good lyricists in amongst the cod-Latin and smut, it's clever stuff.

I've bought a few of the albums since, based primarily on how good the puns or song titles in general are - Blessed & Possesed as a few of my favourites on it, and Sacrament of Sin has the excellent 'Incense and eye-ronn'. It's been hard work not buying 'Best of the Blessed' for the title :D

Even on the albums I'm not that into, their pun game is strong. I can certainly admit to that much. Can't help but chuckle whenever I remember the fact that they have an album called "Preachers of the Night".

I haven't listen to them much outside some festival sets on Youtube but they seemed fun. I may have to check this out.

I must admit their albums get rather samey but it's still fun listening so I'll likely end up hearing this out.

Another pretty sweet cover. I am moderately hyped for this.

Very energetic and catchy new single, I must say.

I wasn't too impressed at first, but I grew to really like that single by the time it was done. Wonder if the rest of the album will follow the same suit of being less immediate and more grow-y.

That was better than the recent Sabaton singles. I just wish they would make the guitars a little louder in the mix.

As someone that honestly hated the last couple Sabaton singles (and that's a band I've enjoyed in the past and have seen live a few times), I agree. This new song is incredibly fun and does this type of power metal correctly. Pop-infused power metal, but with real energy and enthusiasm to it.

That, and I'm a sucker for epic choirs and symphonic stuff.
I blame Nightwish since they were my gateway metal band. Motherfuckers.
