Artillery will release their first album since the death of Morten Stützer., and their tenth in total. It's simply called X, and will be released on May 7th via Metal Blade.

01. The Devil's Symphony
02. In Thrash We Trust
03. Turn up the Rage
04. Silver Cross
05. In Your Mind
06. The Ghost of Me
07. Force of Indifference
08. Varg I Veum
09. Mors Ontologica
10. Eternal Night
11. Beggars in Black Suites

Michael Stützer says:
"We wanted to have the typical Artillery trademarks, like the riffs and hook lines in the usual combination together with aggression and melody. We always try to combine melodic thrash metal with elements from the heavy sounds of the 70s and the 80s, and this time with new elements in some of the songs."

It's been a long time since I listened to Artillery but I remember really digging their last few albums. The song sounds good, it's different now after Morten's passing but I'm glad they're continuing on.

Ok, but what's with the fucking reissue of 'By inheritance' already?!

Did they Re-issue "By Inheritance"? Not that i would care for the Re-issue since i have the original on CD. I'm just not sure about the new album I truly prefer Flemming Rönsdorf on vocals anyway.

Terrible cover art. It's like they purposefully use eye sores.

No, but I wish they would... However, having said that, I may have finally found a copy, waiting for confirmation...

Sounds good, but the background art looks better instead of a silly skull over a big X.

I could have sworn that the last album was dog excrement with a thrash beat...

I actually hold their last one very high. Perhaps as their second best album, beaten only by By Inheritance.

I particularly like the closing song Preaching to the Converted:

Yeah, I think The Face of Fear is actually really good. I'd actually rank it as the best of their post reunion albums, and while it may not be better than By Inheritance it's on the same level as their other classic albums.

The second single is much more of a power/thrash direction than the first single they put out. Looks like this album will be quite diverse.

It's not the first time they've had cheesy choruses, I actually don't mind this one, it's oddly uplifting.

In Thrash We Trust....holy shit, this is corny and bad.

I've heard a few snippets from the album and I've already shelved the idea of any further listening to this band. I haven't heard anything enjoyable past "When Death Comes", to be honest.

It is such a shame that the new guitarist couldn't bring any new energy into the band because this is par for the course for Artillery since Michael Bastholm Dahl took up microphone duties (or, at a rather cynical viewpoint, since they came back in 2008, but I dunno, I have this soft spot for When Death Comes, and My Blood's fairly good too).

The last album of theirs I bother with is B.A.C.K., which is inconsistent but delivers in places. Everything after that has sounded more like a tribute band than anything else.

Gave the album a shot. Aside from the first 3 songs and the semi-ballad "The Ghost of Me" there isn't much to brag about here. It mostly all feels by the numbers and comes off as just another great legacy band falling into a string of listlessness and mediocrity. Having said all that however I still technically enjoyed it more than The Face of Fear, which had all of one song on it I gave a fuck about.
