I remember reading that Zeebs was an upper class guy who had to hide his own identity.

That's exactly where my mind went to along with Muhammad from Necrophagist. The rest of the band fired Rusay because he couldn't keep up with the rest of them as a musician, he took it very badly and personally, and quit music forever. He disappeared from the universe for over a decade until someone stumbled across the website for the golf course he taught at.

The mystery of Sanjiv and Hat have been answered, so no need to bring them up again.

To a much lesser extent, I'm wondering whatever happened to the other members of Edge of Sanity? For such a well-known extreme metal band, they have both famous and totally unknown members in one group. Dan Swano of course is a legend, and Roberth Karlsson has been in Scar Symmetry for over a decade. Dread has Tormented and other projects since (and reconciled with Swano from a picture I saw on facebook once), but what about guys like Sami Nerberg and Anders Lindberg? They completely went into total obscurity. Dan himself was not especially kind to the creative working relationship within the band (something echoed by the other members), and tensions by 1996/1997 were through the roof. They never played in any band ever again and have never resurfaced...

That is until I looked it up. Apparently, Dan himself made a post back in 2009 linking an article that details what happened to Sami (who according to Dread came up with the band name). By 1999, he became a homeless drug addict and spent the next decade like that (the note about him having personal problems and unable to record EoS' Infernal might be hinting at what was to come). And he did in fact play in other bands despite them not being listed on MA. By 2009 it seems like he got his life back in order. Nothing since.

The bassist, Anders Lindberg, is a mystery. I can't find anything on him. Zero. That guy totally vanished.

No cause of death but read this article and let's just say lifestyle choices might have had something to do with it unfortunately.

If I remember correctly, I think that after his 2014 arrest he got sober enough to work in IT or something similar.

My last memory of Richard was reading in some forum about what happened to him (I think it was MBB, idk) and some of the dudes in the board label him "insane" due to one of his interviews having him talki about how much he LOVED Lady Gaga like she was the 2nd coming of Bowie or somethin.

Also, anyone remember Alex Auburn? Played rhythm guitar and did backing vocals for Cryptopsy for the entire 2000s then left metal all together.

I always wondered what became of the infamous Capricornus (ex Graveland/Infernum/Thor's Hammer/Capricornus). He apparently pulled out of the metal scene because of drug related problems, but I can easily imagine his harsh NS stance making him enemies as well, and perhaps retreating into obscurity for that reason.

Rick Miah, the original drummer for My Dying Bride, left the band in 1997 and pretty much disappeared from the universe. No one in the band's ever said anything about him after, I don't think he's been involved in any band retrospectives, and while Metallum says he played in another band after he left MDB, it also says he never recorded anything with them and then left in 2000, so it's like he was never in the band in the first place. The only thing to give any indication about what became of him is this interview with him from some ancient website that makes the distinction that Miah died in 1997, but there's nothing else on the entire internet to corroborate that claim, therefore it possibly isn't true. For all we know, he's still alive somewhere, away from music forever.

Looking into the Internet Archive, My Dying Bride's bio on MySpace said that Rick contracted a debilitating illness, but that may be a bit of a cover for the real story. A few archived interviews mention him:

The only problem then was Rick Miah's illness after finishing our US tour. Rick wanted to leave the band because the whole circus of touring, writing and recording became too stressful for him.

I can't comment on Rick because the truth is embarrassing. For him, not us.

This one might reveal a bit more, mentioning he wanted more money and tried to blackmail the band:

Great drummer actually. Really busy for a doom metal drummer. That put them ages ahead of the genre they helped create.

It’s only been a few years but does anyone know what’s happened to Jef Whitehead (Wrest of Leviathan)? Last I heard he had an album ready to go called ‘Die to This’ I think.

Is it known what he's up to these days? IIRC he had to clarify that the Judas Iscariot pressings by Blake Judd from several years ago were bootlegs or something but that's about it.

It is not really a secret that Jef is notoriously reclusive. When he was interviewed for that OMM documentary, the interview says that he was kind of hard to track down because Jef does not even have a computer or even email.

He has Instagram so I don't think that's the case anymore. He does tattoos and artwork and seems to be doing fine. Probably does way more money than selling records. He had a a new album coming but since he parted ways with Devout Records/Stevie Floyd he's been quiet.

I am not sure if it was Snake of Von who left music then join the army. I also remember one guy from Eluveitie that did not show up at the airport during one of their tour in the mid 2000 . They couldnt find the guy and no notice from him.

Satyricon founding member Wargod supposedly left music to become a UN peacekeeping soldier. He hasn't vanished though as his name shows up on LinkedIn & Facebook.

Fenriz and N.C. give different accounts in many interview, from him being "too grim and kvlt" to be with civilization, to him moving too far away, to him being an alcoholic etc etc. They even hinted at him returning in the 00s, so it seems he's alive at the very least.

He's still alive and he's still in contact with the boys from Darkthrone.

Is there something about this somewhere?

Mike Smith ex- Savage Grace :

He quit singing for the band in 1985 due to probably the stress worldwide touring would bring him. Insecurities. I don't think he plays music anymore. I remember a comedy video of him uploaded almost recently on youtube getting "punched" in the throat. Not seriously of course, it was just a joke made by a couple of friends. I don't remember the title, don't ask me.
