There's a new Wardrum coming out at the end of the month!

I knew they had been working on a new record with their new singer for a while so I randomly looked them up today and saw it was coming sooner than I thought. That's always a great feeling.

They've released two singles so far:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1hQ-FU6n5o

I think both are pretty awesome and it seems like they haven't missed a beat. The new singer isn't quite as good as the last one but he still kicks a pretty huge amount of ass and I'm excited for whatever these guys put out as they are one of my favorite modern heavy/power metal bands.

Any other fans on here?

For some reason I read "Wardruna" and was really confused.

Are they a more relevant band? I have no idea what’s going on in metal these days.

Bumping this. If you're into power metal you gotta hear this one. They just keep their heads down and write smart, intricate, technical stuff and are some of the more solid songwriters in the genre these days. Nothing but smoking riffs, lethal choruses, etc.

I did think there'd be more fast paced songs. But I can't argue with the quality of what's here.

Gotta say I like this guy's voice a lot actually. Yannis was probably better but this guy has a real emotive quality in a way.

edit - honestly I don't think there's even much of a difference between both singers really.

I find both their voices have substantially different tones but they sing the same way and write similar vocal lines, if that makes sense. Anyway, wasn't hugely feeling this album besides the singles at first, but after a few listens it opens up in a huge way. Promised Land hasn't left my head in days. Totally agreed with thinking there'd be more fast songs.

I can see that with the vocals - this seems like a Threshold scenario where the vocal lines are sort of written for this guy, because it really doesn't seem like they changed their style even a little after Yannis left. Whatever the case it seems like they found the most similar guy they could under the circumstances. Very consistent overall. The last one was probably more intense than this. But it's no shame in not living up to that goddamn album.
