I just saw a couple of posts about this on Facebook, and Fleshcrawl's social media seems to confirm it as well. Sven was pretty open with his battle against cancer and I recall him being among the first to wish LG Petrov well when he revealed his own diagnosis. Sadly we've now lost two great death metal vocalists in the space of a few months. Fleshcrawl as a band may not have had the biggest profile, but 90s albums like Impurity and Bloodred Massacre more than measure up to some of the more heralded classics that came out at the same time. May he rest in peace.

First Petrov, and now Sven?

This year hasn't been a good year in death metal in terms of losing great musicians. :(

Sad shit indeed. I'm mostly just a fan of the first Fleshcrawl album, but I can definitely respect his work as a vocalist on the others he was on. Cancer is a cunt.

The Rock Tribune magazine just reissued their first magazine issue from januari 2002 and coincidentally on the last page there is an interview with Fleshcrawl about their 'newest' album 'Soulskinner'. The weird thing is that the interview ends with the mention of a severe medical emergency issue with the singer Sven that caused the band to abruptly cancel their tour with Vader/Vital Remains halfway... :(

RIP Sven.

Damn that sucks. Made of Flesh was another album I was thinking about for my top 10 of 00-09, I fucking love that album and Structures of Death. RIP.
