I figured it's about time to start this thread since we're approaching the end of the year and the majority of 2021 releases have already been announced.

Personally I'm looking forward to new records from Voivod, Misery Index, Witchery, Dark Funeral, Immolation, Blood Incantation, The Chasm, Nightfell, Lykotonon and Horrendous to name just a few.

I'm not sure if they've been announced, but I expect Kalmah, Sonata Arctica, Ghost and Chronicle to put out new stuff next year. Maybe Mustasch as well, they've released a "Chapter 1" and just released a single and have been on a roll, so... probably.

I don't know, I don't follow bands closely enough to always know when to expect new albums. I saw that Amorphis is going to have a new one early next year, so I expect a good album again.

Good to see another fan around here! Their latest album was very cool.

So far I'm really looking forward to the new Asphodelus album.

New Destroyer 666, Destruktor, and Abominator should be great. I know D666 is done recording; last I saw the other two were still working on theirs (though that was a while ago). Also, not metal, but I'm really looking forward to the new Counterparts. They just finished recording their newest. In my eyes those guys are the best band of the last decade. Six top notch albums in a row, starting with their 2010 debut.

Looking forward to Star One, Dark Funeral, Shadow of Intent, Amorphis, Voivod and Halo Effect. Maybe Blood Incantation too, though they've said their next release will be an ambient album and I'm not normally into that... but the more ambient and atmospheric parts of their other albums are pretty cool, so I'm obviously gonna give it a shot. Pretty sure Kreator, Obituary and Soilwork are putting together new stuff too. Regarding Sonata Arctica, apparently they have an acoustic album coming, which sounds... unexciting. Hell, I thought their last album was pretty dull, and I liked everything before it, including all the other polarizing albums they've done.

For non-metal, I'm looking forward to new stuff from Hot Water Music, Billy Talent, Frank Turner, Dan Andriano, Comeback Kid and Drug Church.

These new Jack White albums are all I'm going to be thinking about for months probably.

Interesting about the Sonata acoustic stuff; shame it's only gonna be old songs re-done though. I think they'd do great writing a bunch of fully new folk/acoustic tracks.

I did read The Chasm were working on stuff, but who knows if that'll actually come out next year.

edit - Saxon oughta be fun. The new Mirror will hopefully be even better than Pyramid of Terror.

Definitely waiting for Voivod, Star One, Saxon and Amorphis. Overkill should have a new one, too - wasn't too much into Wings of War, but as they're the band that truly started my interest in metal, I'm always willing to give anything they come up with a chance.

EDIT: oh hey, Mirror will have a new one as well! Pyramid of Terror was fuckin' rad, can't wait!

Ghost. Rumors out there that there may be a Midnight double album out which I would be stoked to hear.

Wiegedood will be cool, I'm really digging that band. Meshuggah and Revocation both started recording new albums a while ago, so those will probably drop in 2022.

I would say I'm excited for the new Slipknot and Korn albums, cause I love those bands and they helped me get into heavy music, but their albums are probably gonna suck. The Slipknot single was unremarkable, and the Korn single was kinda weak.

I'm really starting to think they've gone the Necrophagist route and ended the band without making it official. It's been 15 years since The Conductor's Departure and I'm losing hope in the fifth album ever happening.

New Avantasia and Kreator albums are a certainty. I have high hopes for both of them.

I'm sure Triosphere have been talking a new album for a while, so hopefully that'll finally surface next year.

There's a new power metal project called New Horizon featuring ex-H.e.a.t singer Erik Gronwall which should be interesting.

Not sure what Ozzy's new album will be like, as Andrew Watt is involved again, but I'll check it out regardless.

Hopefully that Coroner album will finally come out in 2022, and abit outside of metal a new Rammstein album should also drop next year

New Ghost, Destruction, Megadeth, and possibly Metallica for my more mainstream tastes. I'm hoping for new Sumerlands which was supposed to be this year but who knows. Hopefully Night releases their new one next year.

Of ones that already have release dates, I'm most curious about Nightrage, Ashes of Ares, Michael Romeo, Amorphis, Star One, Scorpions, and Eucharist.

Can't wait to hear Annihilator's worst album re-recorded with certified garbage-man Stu Block and... Dave Lombardo? Good for Dave I guess, make that money.

Hoping the new Overkill sounds a little fresher than the whiffle bat attack that was The Wings of War.

I'm stoked for Yakuza's new album 10 years after Beyul!

There's also Red Rot (new project by Davide Tiso of Ephel Duath) which should be interesting. Then there's an almost completed Thy Catafalque album and I expect Ihsahn to release something as well.

There's more, but I can;t seem to recall them atm.

Battle Beast is one, their new single sounds a lot better.
And Tobi has been hinting about a new Avantasia album for a very long time....
Come and think about it, Stratovarius and Hammerfall too.
I guess the new Libris Mortis is one I’m pretty excited about too. Prog power hailing from China. They say their new album will be released by Chinese New Year at the latest.

Well, I hope for new Samael's output soon...and I hope that Kreator would start playing some thrash metal again, that melodeath thing is sooo over.

Man there's a ton of album's I'm eagerly anticipating :

- Threshold
- Overkill
- Horn
- Voivod
- Saxon
- Immolation
- Obituary
- Hangman's Chair
- Megadeth
- Obscurcis Romancia
- Amorphis
- Sadist
- Enchantment
- Sword
- Revocation

And some I'm hopeful we're going to get :

- King Diamond
- Sacrifice
- Obliveon
- Demilich
- Sacramentum
- Dawn

Also, if Anata does finally release a new album, you can pretty much already book this as the best year of the decade.

Been on a technical/spacey death metal kick, so I'm really excited for new material from Immolation, Horrendous, and Blood Incantation (and I love ambient music so that last one is a big plus for me). Huge Voivod fan so if the new album is half as good as The Wake it'll be awesome.

Me neither honestly I actually mentionned it because someone previously brought it up in this thread but it's more like a pipe dream at this point.

Came here to say this, surprised that they switched labels again.

For scheduled releases, new Wilderun is on the top of my list. Also curious to see if Wytch Hazel continue their two-year cycle. Anything new from Cryptic Shift or VoidCeremony would be cool!

Before I submitted, Droid (Canada) came to mind, while there is possibility for them to bring some new material after a four year gap, Watchtower's Concepts of Math: Book II is like a distant dream. Moonsorrow's follow-up to Jumalten Aika is also unlikely to happen given the band's inactivity for the time being.

I've heard that Avantasia has been working on a new album since 2020 or something. Will they release it by the end of this year, or next year?

I believe Sigh is working on new material, so I'm looking forward to that. I found Heir to Despair to be the band's strongest album since Imaginary Sonicscape, so I'm hoping for more of that same quality.

That'd be cool. Won't hold my breath, though.

New Pensees Nocturnes album Douce Fange is coming January 21st. If it's anything like their last few, I'm expecting some total weirdness and I'm here for it.
