This seemed to just come out of nowhere.
It was worth the long - 11 year - wait! The drum sound absolutely kills as well, hopefully the album will sound the same.

Damn, an unexpected surprise for sure, but not an unpleasant one. If the rest of the album is as quality as their two previous ones, I think we'll be in for quite a treat. Good to see them back.

Having said that though, did they kind of rebrand themselves? The logo is different, their look is different and the song in question has a more "classic metal" feel. Not that I mind, as I think it was a total banger, but it just seems a little weird. Not bad by any stretch, just kind of...odd, I guess?

Seconded on the song. I was expecting straight black/thrash but it had a trad feel to it mixed with black/thrash. Interesting to say the least.

They've definitely shifted their sound and image slightly to be more traditional heavy/speed metal oriented. I'm all for that though, and it isn't really much of a departure from the old sound. Didn't think this band would come back so I'm happy as fuck about this.

Best news I've heard all day! I really dig the primitive black thrash of their two albums, especially The Rise of Satanic Might. Even though I don't think Rise is quite at the level the reviews on this site would lead one to believe, it really scratches the itch when you're in the mood for something in the vein of Bathory's self titled.

Well there's a name I didn't think I'd see come back!

Definitely a shift in style, but not a huge departure from their past work. Sounds like a speedier version of old Celtic Frost. I think the song may be a tad too long, but that's just upon first listen. Still rad either way.

Awesome! It's a little different indeed but still radiates 80s worship on all instruments, and the drum sound in particular is brilliant. Looking forward to more of this!

Is it just me or does anyone else detect a Helvetets Port-style intentional awkwardness to their current sound and image? I never noticed that in their old stuff.

Their first full-length in 12 years is due on September 22nd, titled "Dawn of the Axe". Here's the music video for the title track:

I remember Under the Sign of the Moon already leaning a lot more into the classic metal sound. I'll be checking this out though.
