Iron Maiden is on tour again and people wonder about the songs they will play. Will they play their favourite songs? Who knows?

The thing is, there are songs that maiden had played way too many times and there are others that should have been played long time ago.

On this forum I want to ask, what songs Maiden should play more (or even play live, since there are songs that maiden has never played). And also if have you seen Maiden live playing a song they rarely play!

I wish they would pull out Somewhere in Time tunes with more regularity, but alas, they have so many set standards they refuse to remove.

I’ll be seeing them in October. I wish they would play “Strange World” from their debut. It would be interesting to hear Bruce sing that one. Such a beautiful and haunting track. “Flash of the Blade” from the Powerslave album and “Stranger in a Strange Land” from Somewhere in Time would be great too.

Alexander the Great would be a cool song to see live, don't think it's been played before.

I'd pay top dollar to hear these songs:

Phantom
Purgatory
Total Eclipse
To Tame A Land
Rime
Caught Somewhere in Time
Loneliness of the Long Distance
Infinite Dreams
Only the Good Die Young
Mother Russia
Childhood's End
The Nomad
Face In the Sand
The Legacy
When the Wild Wind Blows
Empire of the Clouds
Hell On Earth

They should play Blood Brothers and for bonus, they could even recruit former singers Paul and Blaze to sing along; would've greatly contributed to the song

The other song choice is Paschendale.

"Isle of Avalon," "The Talisman," "Shadows in the Valley," "Lost in a Lost World" gotta be my picks for this. Brilliant.

Rainmaker would be my number one pick. It's my favourite Iron Maiden song. As far as I know it was only ever done on the tour to support Dance of Death.

I'd love them to bring back Killers as well. Easily my favourite Paul era tune. I'd be interested to see The Longest Day too. Some really good vocal hooks in that song. Stranger in a Strange Land would also be a very welcome addition in my eyes.

Songs they've never done - I've always been partial to The Alchemist. I'd also love to hear The Thin Line Between Love and Hate, if only for the chorus (I will hope, my soul will fly...), although I'm not sure how Bruce would sound on it these days. Judas Be My Guide and Montsegur would be awesome too.

Too many songs to list, really. You can predict the vast majority of the live set lists. I'd love some deep cuts, like Still Life, Only the Good Die Young or Murders in the Rue Morgue.

The sad reality is that they won't play anything other than what they've been playing so far in 2022. They have a stage set specifically for certain songs and they haven't changed their setlist for ten years so...

Purgatory. They probably haven't played it since '81. It's a perfect pick to perform on stage though: short, fast and with sing-a-long parts ("Please, take me away, so far away").

Otherwise, I'd love to see them bring back Infinite Dreams. The way that track keeps building the intensity makes it a great live song.

I love that song but if they played that at studio speed they'd have to say good night right afterwards. They've had to slow down a LOT of their setlist.

Seconding this. Surprised they never played the song live. Hopefully, they might eventually get a chance to do it, though it might not be on this tour.

Absolutely one of my fav Maiden songs....it's got everything that's great about Maiden in 3+ minutes. Just a killer tune.

They haven't played "The Mercenary" since the Brave New World tour in 2002, and it's one of my favourite later-era Maiden tracks.

Sea of Madness. Such a great, energetic, fist-pumping anthem and Maiden never play it which I find utterly baffling. Most of Somewhere In Time is criminally overlooked at their shows but that song in particular really stands out as one that I really wish that they would play. As others have said, Infinite Dreams would also be a very welcome addition to their set as would songs like The Nomad, Flash of the Blade, Rainmaker and To Tame A Land.

They actually played Blood Brothers as the final track (after Number of the Beast) during their 2017 Book of Souls tour (at least when I saw them in Chicago) - have to say it was a cool choice to close with a deep cut like that and not NotB.

The last song on that tour was Wasted Years, not Blood Brothers. That said, it's been played a lot since release. Along with the tour supporting Brave New World, it was also in the set for the Final Frontier tour, as well as the set on the latest leg of the Legacy of the Beast tour. I don't know the stats, but there's a chance it's the most played reunion era song (I'd wager that or The Wicker Man).

Iron Maiden playing their never-before-played-live songs live would be a looooong gig. It's actually a fun concept for fans, and I'd definitely would love to hear something like this (I might have put in a song or a couple that was played live at some point, but I'm not gonna go check out the setlists ;) ):

1. Montsegur
2. Sea of Madness
3. The Prophecy
4. Weekend Warrior
5. Flash of the Blade
6. Fates Warning
7. Thin Line between Love and Hate
8. The Duellists
9. Judas Be My Guide
10. The Nomad
11. Gates of Tomorrow
12. Another Life
13. Alexander the Great
14. Only the Good Die Young
15. Purgatory

The Fallen Angel (last played in 2001)
To Tame a Land (last played in 1983)
Be Quick or Be Dead (Last played in 1993)
Another Life (Last played in 2005)

Any reason in particular to kick off the show with Montsegur?

Dance of Death has so much good stuff they should play. Rainmaker, Montsegur, Dance of Death, Paschendale, Face in the Sand, Journeyman. The Mercenary from BNW also.

I have always loved "Sun And Steel" and thought for sure they'd dust it off for the Senjutsu tour and their sake beer.

I don't know if they ever played "Sea of Madness" even back in the day. I loved that song and I don't remember them playing it either time I saw them in 1987 and 1988. I also suspect that they deliberately dropped a lot of the DiAnno era songs from the set list, specifically the ones Paul DiAnno himself had a writing credit on, so as not to spark any kind of potential "Creative license" type conflicts with Paul. But I could be wrong about that however. It would be really cool to hear Bruce sing "Remember Tomorrow" or "Purgatory."

They last played Sea of Madness 1/8/87. They played it a bit on the 86 tour.

Bruce did sing Remember Tomorrow last in 2005 so if you can find some bootlegs you may be able to hear it.

There's some pro shot shows from 2005 with a lot of Paul era songs (for anyone not in the know, they did a set with tracks from the first four albums only), including Remember Tomorrow.

Spoiler: show

Immediately go listen to "Reach Out" and then "That Girl". These are B-sides from the SIT era. Reach Out features Adrian on lead vocals. "That Girl" is a cover song....great tunes.

While i do love the recent setlists (Revelations, Flight of Icarus, The Trooper, The Clansman are among my fav Maiden songs ever), i wish they'd put in some more recent songs. Specially from Brave New World and A Matter of Life and Death.

For example:
The Wicker Man
The Fallen Angel
Out of the Silent Planet
These Colours Don't Run
Brighter than a Thousand Suns

But also from the underrated The Final Frontier:
Coming Home
Isle of Avalon
The Talisman
When the Wild Wind Blows

From the older stuff:
Children of the Damned
Infinite Dreams
Caught Somewhere in Time
Sea of Madness
Sun and Steel

I'd honestly pay to see them doing a deep cut tour.

I don't know why but I think Somewhere is perhaps their most underrated album ever. My favourite song is "Stranger from a Strange Land" and I wish they would play it more :hyper:

Brilliant album overall that just starts a bit standard with the first few tracks. I think it will be reappraised greatly in a few years.
