They're pretty rad, and become more unique with each release. Hiss even feels artful as strange as that sounds for the grindcore band. They're able to remain fairly oldschool but adventure into new territory while doing it. That's a quality of the band that I admire quite a bit.

I don't know about essential, as I don't listen to a ton of grindcore, just the handful of bands that appeal to my tastes, but Wormrot are definitely one of my favorites.

You don't need a lot of grindcore, but of the grindcore you need, Wormrot is on that list.

One of the best grindcore bands out there. The early stuff is good but with Voices they really started to get to that next level. Hiss is definitely my favorite thing they've done.

Curious to see where they go without Arif on vocals, though whatever they do I'm sure it'll kick ass.

great band but honestly the first 2 are the best they did and the ep for Scion. But the other 2 sound far more like cloudrat.

I agree that their first two are the best, especially Abuse. That record is sheer maniacal energy. Voices and Hiss were interesting records and made some moves that kept their sound from getting stale, but those albums just can’t match the raw unhinged ferocity of the first two.

Really interested to see what they do next. They just put out one of the most beloved grind records of the past five years and their singer left at the same time.

Good fucking grind. Nothing else to say.

I think they really came into their own on their last two records, they've cultivated a very unique and distinctive approach to grindcore that pulls from a lot of different influences.

Abuse and Dirge were ok. After that they lost me really.

Haven't listened a whole lot but what I've sampled of the latest two, it's aight but there's an unsettling undertone of something screamo...

Abuse and Dirge are top tier grindcore. Don't know about that Napalm Death comparison though, to me they sound way closer to American grind like Terrorizer and Brutal Truth.
They seem to have been steadily gaining steam with every release, with Hiss reaching new heights. I don't care that much for Hiss or Voices compared to their earlier stuff. Especially Hiss is getting a bit too on the artsy side for me.

Great band. Love Abuse, a killer debut. Dirge is one of the best grind albums of all time, Voices though a step down is still pretty top tier. Hiss is just a masterpiece. They really have been a consistently innovative, standout and unique voice in the genre whilst being very consistent and keeping in touch with the genre's foundations.

Well, their latest release, Hiss, finished 12th in Metal-Archives annual poll, and it was cited on a lot of end of the year lists of various websites. So metalheads in general really seemed to enjoy it.

I'm not all that familiar with the rest of their work, but will definitely dig deeper. But as of right now, I definitely would recommend Hiss. It's absolutely solid and definitely worth it!

Their latest is good but the 2 albums before it are even better.

I liked Voices more than the latest one, Hiss. They're currently touring Europe with the singer from Implore/Hiss From the Moat as their touring vocalist.

I just saw Wormrot on the tour yesterday. Really really good show, they have plenty of energy and Gabriel from Implore is a great fit for the band. The setlist was really heavy on songs from Hiss (obviously), but it was definitely focused on the grindier songs from the album. Would highly recommend seeing them if anyone gets the chance.

Merch was pretty slim pickings though, and a bit on the expensive side. Only two different shirt designs, a flag, a pin and Hiss CDs.

I didn't check, but it seemed like they still had all sizes available, so I think you've got a good chance. But they were a little expensive for me, around 27€ for a t-shirt.
