I understand that deathcore isnt always held in very high regard on this site, but I feel like Signs of the Swarm is one of if not the best bands around right now regardless of genre. Dave is an absolute monsterous vocalist with amazing stage presence. This song definitely doesnt have as much death metal influence as some of their other tracks but I definitely can hear some Meshuggah in the one riff. The end is absurd as far as breakdowns are concerned. Also these dudes are extremely cool dudes, i've met them on several occasions, very classy fun guys and put on an amazing live show. Hope to see them blow up in popularity.

I am (as of recently) and that's a really sick track. Not much to complain about there.

I've recently started getting into some of the better deathcore bands like: Signs of the Swarm, Gravewalker, Mental Cruelty, Lorna Shore, Fit For an Autopsy, Within Destruction, etc. and all of them are quite good IMO.

The more I listen to bands like that the less I understand why so many metalheads hate deathcore. I mean, IMO it IS a style of metal and yes, there are tons of shitty deathcore bands out there, but there are shitty bands of every style.

I couldnt agree more Ill Star. I was one of those guys in the begining who was like "nah.... its not death metal... no thanks" but the more i listen to some of these bands the more and more I like them, specifically great music for in the gym. IMO Signs of the Swarm is the best of the bunch but some of that may be biased because i've had the oppertunity to meet them a few times and they were such cool dudes to hang out with, so it's hard for me to not like them. This new song sounds great, and I cant wait to hear this new album. I dont understand why so many extreme metal fans hate deathcore so much, tonally it sounds very similar to death metal, the aggression is their, and they typically hammer it all home with blast beats and some great riffs scattered around. I can understand people not like breakdowns, thats their preference but I feel like alot of people complain about the "deathcore fans" which IMO is stupid. Why do fans ruin a genre of music for someone.

Anyone have any thoughts now that the album has been released? I loved it, maybe not quite as much as Absolvere but it still delivered everything I wanted from them. I think "Between Fire and Stone" and "Faces Without Names" were probably my favorite tracks. Bobby is a machine on the bass drums and Dave's voice is as inhuman as they come. Saw them in Buffalo New York as part of their album release tour and they killed it, awesome high energy. Always a blast.

I agree SOTS are one of the better new-wave deathcore bands (Despised Icon are my favourite of all time).
Haven't been able to listen to the full album yet but I've heard a few singles.

Tower of Torsos was awesome, total bliss.
Amongst the Low & Empty - wasn't big on the opening breakdown but it does get a lot better
Dreamkiller so far from 2 listens has been a pleasant enough listen.

First album was ok, TDOE was pretty sick and I loved Vital Deprivation.
Still need to get my hands on Absolvere, I do like it but so far VD is their best (in my opinion).

Decided to give the album a listen earlier today. Even as someone who isn't into a whole lot of deathcore, I actually found this album pretty decent. Then again, though, if I'm gonna listen to anything from the genre, I'd much rather listen to stuff like Lorna Shora or even Mental Cruelty's "Zwielicht", the latter I've been bumping a lot lately.
