One of my absolute favorite recent heavy metal bands in the general vein of the FWOSHM was Lethal Steel, whose 2016 debut "Legion of the Night" is an amazing and near perfect homage to that scene that has more than enough individual character to still stand up on its own legs. Recently Leo Sollenmo from Lethal Steel (also: Temisto, Tøronto) along with one of his compatriots from Tøronto, Staffan Tengnér, started a new band called Century and made waves with some great pre-album stuff and then with a killer US tour leading up to an awesome performance at Hell's Heroes, which to me was one of the big highlights of the fest. The album is streaming in full now (with an interview, which I was stoked to do!) and the thing is officially out on Friday. Give it a whirl! For fans of Lethal Steel, Heavy Load, Witch. I bought a copy that was available early at Hell's Heroes and have had it on repeat- really lives up to the promise of the "The Fighting Eagle" 7" single, IMO!

This sounds pretty damn good. Always up for some new Swedish heavy metal, will have to get a hold of this at some point.

I wasn't a big fan of the Lethal Steel-debut, but I liked the EP from 2020. Got the Century-CD in the mail yesterday and on the fifth spin now. Not stunning, but pretty good. Sinister Star and Breakthrough are early favorites.

You've listened to an album that's only pretty good five times in the last day???

Had plenty of "freetime" the last days, so yes. All the albums I buy get lots of spins, even the not so good ones. Some get better after a while, some don't.

Quite pleased with this one. Doesn't reinvent the wheel, but rocks hard and in the end it's all that matters.
