I used to be a very dedicated CD and Vinyl collector (over 4000 discs and over 1000 vinyl). I stopped buying CDs in 2013, and stopped buying vinyl records in 2017. Since 2013, I have been gifted 2 or 3 CDs, and I think since the end of 2017, I have purchased about 9 vinyl copies of albums. I just simply do not have the space anymore, and my priorities in life have changed. Physical media has become so expensive (especially with shipping to Northern Ontario). I pretty much strictly use spotify premium now, which is not an ethical way to support the artists you love, but it's all that works for me right now. I'd much rather spend my money on travelling than collecting things that will sit in my shelf and collect dust, because I do 90% of my music-listening when I'm not at home anyway. When I stop and think of how many thousands of dollars I've spent on physical media since 1996, it makes my stomach hurt. |

It's Apple Music for me. I performed a search for a band, not found it, and then try again a couple of weeks later and there it is. Doesn't happen every time but they do seem to add music that wasn't previously available after performing a search. |
