I've gotten kinda sick of the old school sound lately. Besides the classics, a lot of it is really flat and boring.

I remember when old school death metal was just called death metal. Yep, those were the good ol days.

I know I'm probably late here but I'm gonna drop Massacra's first two albums into this thread. So many great riffs on those.

Yes. I recently spun Acts of God, and wasn't enthused. Though, I'm on such an OSDM kick right now that the modern sound is less appealing to me (for the time being). It also wasn't a very close listen.

I'd urge you to give it another go. I like a lot of OSDM, but like OP, the old Immolation hasn't clicked with me (yet). Acts of God was what cracked their code for me, so to speak, and I've been working my way back from that and enjoying what I'm hearing a lot.

You really should rename your thread to "old school american death metal is really clicking with me these days...".

I am pretty sure that a lot of you already heard this album, but I didn't! And it fucking rocks, it has vocals by George Corpsegrinder Fisher, and the guys from Cynic and Malevolent Creation, this is really awesome old school death metal. I don't know why I didn't check this before, is the first band of Corpsegrinder before Cannibal. 100% rating.
