I recently noticed that both The Secrets Of the Black Arts and Vobiscum Satanas were re-released in limited edition Black Polycarbonate discs and remixed. I checked here for (The Secrets...) , but didn't find anything about being remixed except that it is only mentioned on the hype sticker. As for Vobiscum Satanas I found only one version that is remixed https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Dark_Funeral/Vobiscum_Satanas/693167

I see no point of having both albums remixed when the original mix is quite good, and this applies to other bands as well. Would to love hear your opinions on that matter

Remixes can be interesting as long as they either remain faithful to the original or even improve them. I haven't heard the remixes of those albums yet, but I'd be curious to see how they compare to the OG mix.

I was under the impression that the original recording for Secrets was remixed and the reissue was remastered. I checked discogs and it just says it was both were remastered in 2007, while the unreleased version was remixed.

When it comes to remixes I'm old school, I always prefer the original mix. Wish someone who heard those albums could fill us in!

It's pretty confusing. Apparently, the whole remix and remaster thing is the norm nowadays!

Remixing is not common.

Remastering common for 30 years. Not always good or necessary though.

I agree, as common as remastering have become, it is not a necessity, several records were already mastered brilliantly, if its not broken why fix it!

As for remixing, it's catching up and before we know it, several of our favorite records will be remixed.

According to this review (link below) of the 2LP reissue of (The Secrets...), the Abyss original mix is remixed!

Quote:
The original Abyss Studios mix has been remastered and remixed and this was a great decision. The guitars sound better, the drums come to the fore and the vocals are less prominent. The album is brutal and evil.
