About the new album, MAYARA PUERTAS comments:

” ‘Devilish’ is an album surrounded by a somber atmosphere, its lyrics show yearnings experienced in our century, such as the constant degradation of the Amazon rainforest and the population increasingly affected by psychological illnesses such as anxiety and depression. At the same time, it opens escape windows to an imaginary world inspired by games, series and fiction books”.

On their second album with the new lineup, Mayara Puertas (Voice), Rene Simionato (Guitar), Castor (Bass) and Amilcar Christófaro (Drums) maturely transcend the sound of extreme metal, incorporating progressive metal, influences from Brazilian music and symphonic elements.

The album also honors Brazilian heroes with the participation of Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) in the track “Buried Alive”, it is a tribute to Rickson Gracie, the resilient fighter of Jiu Jitsu considered one of the greatest legends of the sport, theme of the track “Warrior”. The band also mobilized several musicians linked to indigenous causes in their country to collaborate on the song “Uatumã”, making an appeal for the preservation of the Amazon in a song that flows powerfully with the speeches of the indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and tribal rhythms.

Currently TORTURE SQUAD continues with a busy schedule, performing shows all over Brazil and preparing to release ‘Devilish’. More information will be released soon.

The first 2 singles are out.

"Far Beyond Existence" was a great album, I hope they maintain the same level on this one.

I haven't listened to much of this band besides Pandemonium and Hellbound. I might check this one out.

Tried to get into these guys, but they always lacked grit.

This is out today, had a listen after the new CC. Pretty good for a casual listen.

False. They are gritty - maybe a bit too tight and snappy compared to their contemporaries but this album fucking goes so far. I like it.

First time hearing of these guys, and on first listen I see what you're saying. This seems pretty average... Also the production feels dry and empty and the instruments have no beef.

Meh they do nothing for me. Just generic sounding in my books.

Yeah, Torture Squad has lacked grit and a rougher edge for a decade now (and more, I'd say Hellbound was the album they kinda lost it).

Having said that, they had that in spaded on earlier albums, particularly Pandemonium, but also The Unholy Spell and Asylum of Shadows. The latter two are basically never talked about when it comes to this band, which is both unfortunate and understandable to an extent. They were preludes of sort toPandemonium, but they're also really good albums on their own.

Pandemonium has beef - and grit, and RIFFS - up the ying-yang. It is surely one of the best thrash albums of the early 2000s.

However, nothing else they've done has really hit me, including this new one. The best songs sound like The Haunted, which is damning with faint praise.

Saw these guys open for Exodus and Overkill years ago and thought they were very good live (I'm sure they had a male vocalist back then though), but I must say their records have never clicked for me, not even 'Pandemonium'. However, as a previous poster said, this new one seems ok for a casual listen every now and then.
