I just needed to tell someone....

Bought a rare Of Stone Wind and Pillor shirt off ebay recently - less than 20 were ever printed world wide.

Turns out the seller was John Haughm. I asked him if he could sign it and I would mount it in a frame as a piece of memorabilia....

He said, 'how about I get the whole band to sign it'.

Fuck I rock.

To say that I'm just a little chuffed would be an understatement.

I also asked him to write a profound statement similar to those found on the back of the Mantle and Ashes shirts ie. 'we are the wounds' and 'the god of man is a failure' but from the Of Stone... EP.

I intend to mount it in a glass case with album artwork adorning the four corners and a plaque at the bottom.

When I have a house with a pool room I shall put it there.

I once recieved two Mütiilation demo tapes as part of a bigger collection I bought. I have no idea if they are the originals or not, and the previous owner also got them second hand. How is it possible to tell?
I'm talking about these:

Satanist Styrken,
Black Imperial Blood

Anyway, I never listened to them and have considered selling them, but I would not like to sell bootlegs.

As for me,I am really a lucky person.I rather wait for a good offer than to bid so high for a particular cd..

Like For Example:
Rottrevore - Iniquitous-------->got this for 15 euros in a bm distro---Cost about USD225 on ebay

Expulsion - A bitter twist of fate---->got this for about 10usd----Seldom on Ebay so i do not know its value..

Epitaph- Seeming Salvation----> 65usd on ebay-----Highest i have seen is 255 usd

Sadistic Intent 2 MCDs----->Traded against a normal cd from a distro--Usually about 50 euros each i think

Merciless-The Awakening(DSP)--->Also traded a regular cd for it..--->120 euros??

So be patient and not pay absurd money for it!

I bought Rottrevore on ebay for something like 80 usd... A few weeks later I found a mint copy of the same album at my local second hand store for something like 10 usd. Thankfully I could trade one for another highly wanted cd of mine - Desire 'Infinity...' (thanks Zola!!!) - The Desire cd is also being sold at a very high price on ebay.

I also got the Expulsion mcd years ago very, very cheap. Now it seems to be a highly sought after cd and is sold for..I don't know, something up there....Strange, since it absolutely sounds like shit haha.

There are few cds I would pay a shit load for (meaning: around 100 usd). One would be the cd version of Convulse 'World without God'. And Iniquity demos, of course.

Chances are they are bootlegs. The originals were only spread in very limited quantities. I'd say maybe 20 or so existed.

Check these ones :

http://cgi.ebay.com/Arch-Enemy-ASMODINA ... dZViewItem

I was lucky with the full length:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=024

Funny, when I got a report that this seller listed another stuff from Asmodina, the actual price was 15 usd, I decided to put 16 just to keep it tracked in myebay, and I got an error message, that I have to put more than 51 USD :P
LOL

To my knowledge the LP goes for 25 USD or around that, maybe 40 if it's in excellent condition. The CD version generates insane bids, usually ends after 200 USD. I'd like to own the real pressing of that :D

Yep, that was mine spare copy! I hope you enjoy that! It takes 3 years to find my first copy, and then I found 2 more in the next one. I'm happy with my (now) extra copy of that Rottrevore CD, I hope I can trade it for something special :P

:o ?!?! I'd like to get a copy of that as well, but the rarities often just rarities, and really worthless to listen more than 1 time... Someone maybe think it over to re-release them, at least because they are so collectibles ;)

Convulse never existed on CD, that version is just a boot, nothing more nothing less... The same goes for the Excruciate/Epitaph split CD (=>Alden!)

Many CDs/LPs/EPs just waiting for a label to get re-released again. Effigy Rec., Drowned Prod., Thrash Rec., the list is endless...

uahhh.... the MCD is great. All 3 tracks are perfect Swedish two-beat Döds Metal with a very slight melodic edge. The following 2 CDs kinds lost that spirit, even if Overflow featured the best song from the MCD, however not as good as on the MCD.

got my copy for 75 Norwegian krones (9 Euros) 4 years ago in a 2nd hand shop.

oh yeah. Some re-releases would make sense, however, I somehow don't like it. Instead of releasing new/promising bands, the record labels (Metal Mind anyone?) doing a re-release overkill. Who is buying the 4-CD of Cerebral Fix ? I am somehow not very fond of re-releases, still I buy them occasionally if they feature additional stuff. Else it should be re-releases like it was released 10 years ago, then the people who have it wouldn't need to buy the re-release.

Thanks for the ad ;)
got already a big Rock Brigade list in the morning. Work to do :)

Yep, that's true as well... I hate those re-releases with new artwork, new design, re-recorded songs (brrr).... On the other hand, 100% identical re-releases are also annoying (obtained enslavement, how can we know if it's the first press?).

Not metal at all but I saw a Beatles LP at a store for $1,500 which of course is fucking crazy. That's the highest price I've ever seen for music.

Jesus, that's sick. I just bought a copy of this from a private collector for $75 and thought *I* got a pretty good bargain... that's what I get for not endlessly searching eBay all day long.

The most I ever payed for a CD was $43.
The most expensive CD I ever saw was $375
Until reading this thread I never imagined that a CD can cost $600 or $1000. That's insane. :)

I saw a copy go on Ebay for $330 a few weeks ago.

I remember finding a first press of Apocalyptic Raids in a store and told the guy I'd pay whatever he asked for it. He told me it was $300, so I gaped at him briefly before walking from the store in shame.

I have some pretty rare stuff, but fortunately I've never paid more than $40 for any of my CDs or LPs.

The most I've paid for an album was £21 for Demons and Wizard's Touched by the Crimson King. Some of the stuff in this thread is insane. I'm never going to complain about CDs that cost £15 upwards anymore.

I own only one rarity, Blind Guardian's Another Stranger Me EP (Picture disc as well.) Limited Edition (Limited to 1000 copies). It cost me £2.81. I love eBay. :)

Every post in this thread says otherwise.

You are looking at a bunch of mostly kids with little to no money. Once they get jobs and earn money is when things start being worth more. Look at how much Kiss can charge for concerts, its because their main audience is middle aged, so they have money to burn.

It was some Digipak 2CD special edition or something. Anyway, it was before I had an eBay account, so Virgin Megastores was the only place I could get metal. I'd heard Terror Train and simply had to get that album. Virgin always charges what seems like a small fortune for the CDs of bands of a slightly non-mainstream following (not in Scotland anyway), like Demons and Wizards, Blind Guardian and Sonata Arctica. Now that I've got access to eBay I really regret paying so much for it.

I think I payed 14 dollars for mine... It wasn't worth it. Every song starts out the same and breaks into some sort of acoustic melodramatic crap. There is some ok material on the album but it is buried within all Jon's crap.

Talking about the Pyrexia - Sermons of Mockery CD

I actually won it for 50usd on Ebay but due to cash flow..i didn't pay up..i guess i have just missed a chance..i guess when a time when everyone are looking for a particular album, they will pay absurd amount of money

it took me only 6 months to have 6 releases from Drowned Productions

quite a feat actually..some cds bought from a single seller and some at a 2nd hand bm distro..

everything u get depends mostly on luck..btw,that expulsion mcd is great stuff!

I'm more than pleased that there's such stupid people out there willing to pay that shit for a piece of plastic & paper. Looking for a golden retirement... :hyper:

Whilst not technically metal, I got a first pressing of Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer, in mint condition, for $25.

Most I ever paid for any album was $32 for the Drowned version of Slumber of Sullen Eyes. Looking back, that looks like a bargain.

Most I ever sold anything for?

The Chasm - Procreation of the Inner Temple cd for US$102
Amon Amarth - Sorrow Throughout mcd [autographed] for US$78

This auction is just about to wrap up. I had this on my eBay watch list but just deleted it - I have to admit to myself that I'm not even considering bidding what it would take to win this thing. My guess is it goes for $250.

Mono or stereo version?

"No, Lair...but that's a pretty damn good name too!".
