Not metal at all but I saw a Beatles LP at a store for $1,500 which of course is fucking crazy. That's the highest price I've ever seen for music.

That depends on which album it was. The Beatles are the most collectible band in the world, seconded by Elvis and Johnny Cash, so $1500 for, say, an original Butcher Block cover lp or a pretty low numbering White Album isn't too far off.

Don't know really, but depending on the rarity of the release and if its piratable or not, I might pay up to about 100€.

My mom has one of those old Beatles albums that's worth about $1000. I'm trying to convince her to let me sell it on ebay so I can buy a set of Trick pedals.

Years ago, before eBay was the living end, I plunked down $45 in a brick-and-mortar record shop for the Blue Oyster Cult "Imaginos" CD. Still hasn't been re-released, so it turned out to be the right decision.

I sold my copy for €25 to a friend last year after I got the vinyl version. That is a fair price for that album, people on ebay are just morons.
I'm a vinyl-man myself, but I'm under the impression that prices of metal CD's are just crazy at the moment. People will buy everything if it's early 90's death metal, and pay every price for it. Laughable.

$25 is about right for a mint first-presser. The mono's a little rarer, but the sound quality on the stereo is obviously better.

Is a first print CD of Annihilator's Alice in Hell rare at all?

The most I've ever spent on metal merchandise was for Slayer's "God Hates Us All" poster, one of the ones that says "in stores September 11". $40.

the next player of the game is:

Excruciate!

If someone has some copy from Thrash Records in the attic, it's high time to register on ebay and list them one by one! Strictly CDs only! The LPs can be bargains only.

I need that one, but until I can not find a copy for a way more friendly price, I'm listening the reissued version.

an expensive bootleg:

and a possibly newcomer of the "more money than brain" category, as I read it somewhere else :D

I've paid about 45 € for a first-press Rigor Mortis' Freaks EP, and 85 € for Blind Illusion's Sane Asylum japanes original.

The most expensive CD I own is HIM's first EP, limited to 1000 copies in a digipack. Mine is used but in relatively good condition, listened by myself three times. I paid 8 FIM (1,2 €) for it in 1997, and it's for sale for anyone interested, for a nominal price of 1000 €. I've seen it go up to 1805 US$ on EBay.

You could buy it from me and send it to Morrigan to prove HIM has a metal release. There are three tracks, two of which could be considered metal with somewhat relaxed criteria. :P

$1805 dollars for something limited to 1000 copies, that's completely retarded.

This is the other extremity... the seller mistyped the artist, anyways those bidders (vuvr, sovdat_b) did not dare to bid too high. Nice shot indeed!

Well, depends. If there's a "limited to 666" black metal album, and 2000, or in a good case, 20000 pretty poor people who want one, it would be insanity. In HIM's case, there are 200000 or more of them, many of them well-off ladies with more than enough money from their hubbies.

Everything is relative.

I just won a bit of a battle on ebay this morning to pick up Agalloch's Of Stone, Wind and Pillor EP.

At $187.50 USD it's a bit more than the 50 I was originally prepared to pay but what can I say - I'm a fanboy.
